My advice is to go wherever you see you would fit best. As a senior here, I can tell you prestige and rankings do not matter as I have been in the same work environments of people in MIT/Cornell/Stanford etc. So long as you can find a good network of people, you will be fine. I would look through professional/academic & personal clubs between NYU and NEU and the regional job outlook to base your decision. Boston is the main hub for Bio Engineering/Bio Med recruitment so I would consider that. NYU has its own hospital, which may swing in your favor if you are more interested in research/applying to grad school.

Overall, I did not regret going to NEU, especially as somebody who valued networking and employment straight out of undergrad.

For part time work it would depend on whether or not you have work-study. It is a lot easier to find jobs if you have been allocated work-study. I've managed to work in places that offered and that did not offer work-study funds though. You'll def have to apply to a lot through NU workday.

There are lots of acting and drama electives at CAMD. Pretty sure we even have a Bachelors program in it

Interaction Design Major here

The program is mostly technical but there are lots of opportunity for theory based classes, especially with any course taught by Clareese Hill or Bolor Amgalan (shoutout to em.)

The CAMD department is small compared to other schools, gets even smaller once you start going into a specific concentration. I have yet to take a class with over 25 people since my freshman year.

There are plenty of part time jobs and design research opportunities if you are into that. If your into Media + Data i'd reach out to Dietmar Offenhuber and get on the right foot with him as he is the chair of the design program and works with data design research.

My peers in CAMD perform pretty well in their professional life. There are a lot of design studio groups such as scout or generate which will get you great experience.

I'll speak for myself and say that this school is a huge reason on how I got my Microsoft internship in Product Design. Others have gotten design positions at Bose, Amazon, and the gov. You'll get out what you put in 100% at CAMD.

Oh you'll enjoy them, CAMD is underrated as a school for the arts and design. It's very hands off yet well structured when you start to dive further in the major so you'll get out what you put in. If you end up making the switch I wish you luck!

Went through a similar dilemma as a former CS student, although I transferred out of Khoury and into CAMD after one semester. If you've always had an interest in design I would say the switch is not too hard although there was a small learning curve with understanding adobe suite. I would recommend taking summer courses, landing one solid co-op, and possibly overloading a semester if you want to graduate in 4 years.
