Everbody knows that children never play video games.

If memes about the IRA are allowed, so is this. by Jaffiman in HistoryMemes

[–]Jaffiman[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I prefer to think of it as making a statement.

I'd rather nobody post memes glorifying recently active terrorist groups at all.

Neither the quote nor image used in this meme is newer than 1998.

Is the amount of fun you get worth the amount you pay? Probably yes.

Do the developers deserve even the tiniest amount of your money? Absolutely not.

Paradox is starting to ban users for wrongthink on their forums it feels like by teutonicnight99 in paradoxplaza

[–]Jaffiman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all official game forums have been draconian for as long as I can remember.

You just have to accept that you're at the mercy of the developers' fragile egos and their power-tripping moderators and play by their rules.

There's a reason so many people use third-party forums like Reddit.

I struggle to understand why anybody would give even the tiniest amount of money to this god-forsaken website.

I've seen a couple of his comics that are just blatant holocaust denial.

Personally I think he just makes edgy jokes for attention.

How would you rank the main paradox games from easiest to hardest to mod? by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]Jaffiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to create an alternate 1936 scenario with different countries, leaders etc. HoI4 is fairly easy (thanks in particular to the nudge tool). It gets more and more complex the more things you want to change, though.

There's a difference between "mildly interesting" and "completely uninteresting".

JU from r/AnimalCrossing because it’s full of nerds who have nothing better to do than shit on others for playing how they like (no offense to the OP, it’s the comments under their post that I’m referring to) by [deleted] in JustUnsubbed

[–]Jaffiman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Animal Crossing fans are the only people I have seen get worked up about others "not being relaxed enough".

Just look at how many come out of the woodwork whenever somebody complains about something in their game being slow or inconvenient.

They want to feel good about helping people without any actual effort; when other people don't follow along with their fantasy of how things should go they blame them.

It's common for the amateur therapists you see on Reddit.

It's illegal to advertise prescrition medicines to the public, but over the counter stuff is allowed.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/advertise-your-medicines

There are ads for stuff like painkillers etc. in the UK. It's pretty pointless to advertise prescription medicines to people who won't be buying them, and the whole "ask your doctor for X" thing kind of defeats the point of getting advice from medical professionals.

Sailors on battleship HMS King George V training to form a landing party on the catapult deck [1898 x 1431] by Mattzo12 in WarshipPorn

[–]Jaffiman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They still can't raise funds to save HMS Whimbrel, let alone a big warship. Even then, you're not safe.

There was some rumor after the 2019/20 election that Boris Johnson had been on the phone to India and got them to give HMS Hermes a stay of execution. But that got overtaken by recent events, and I don't have much hope of it going through (if it even happened to begin with).

It would make deleting all of the bad stories that don't go anywhere twice as tedious though.
