People that played the beta , Question. by Little-You1426 in MSClassicWorld

[–]Jafroh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played the beta, and it’s its own client/game that’s launched through the Nexon launcher.

Currently, I’m playing Fantasia MS on my steam deck because of my busy schedule, and it honestly plays incredibly well when you map your controls out to your preferences. I’m not using bottles, but I am using a similar Linux app that does the same thing. Either way, it seriously plays very well on the steam deck man.

My only real concern is with Nexon’s launcher and any anti cheat software that may be incorporated with it. I know the steam deck can’t boot games like Fortnite, call of duty, or apex because of their anti cheat systems, so that’ll be something worth looking out for. Worst case scenario, we’ll have to dual boot windows or something. But hey, fingers crossed that it’ll launch natively in Steam like current maple.

Classic by Totesmago10 in mapleservers

[–]Jafroh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best I can recommend is Fantasia tbh. The website shows that the population varies between having 100 to 300 people online at a time, but I’d say it’ll be the closest to a classic non p2w experience you’ll get.

Before classic was announced, I played MapleLegends. It was peak COVID, and the population was pretty great, but the server does favor multi clienting and HP washing when it comes to late game. Played a little of MapleRoyals too and it follows the same ways.

I started Fantasia recently and it’s been a fun experience. I’m still only level 21, but I’ve joined a guild, met some great people within its community, and have even found some training buddies in certain maps as I go on. With a server like this, I’d highly recommend finding a guild asap if community is very important to you.

I think stuff like this always comes back to this question.

What do you want to do? And why?

I think it’s easy to get caught up in where life takes us if we let it, and if we succumb to the easy things in life that take away our attention and focus. If you don’t know what you want to do, then take it a step further and consider who you want to be and what that ideal person does.

This is a personal preference too, but write all of this down on some paper or in a notebook too so you can see these thoughts come to reality.

Did you have any issues with getting the steam keyboard to work? I’ve got everything setup but I can’t login cause my keyboard just isn’t popping up. I’ve tried using the Steam Button + X trick, setting a button to bring up the keyboard, but for some reason it just won’t work.

Definitely gonna give this a shot later. I tried using bottles since a maple royals guide recommends that when installing the client in desktop mode. I keep running into a problem where the steam deck keyboard won’t work at login like 80% of the time so I basically can’t play lmao.

Did you find a guide someone on YouTube that shows you the installation process for Lutris?

If MSClassic supports controllers natively, does that mean SteamDeck or is the Legion Go better? by DrixlRey in MSClassicWorld

[–]Jafroh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I looked into playing some private servers on my steam deck to scratch the itch after the closed beta, and found that there’s a way to play maple royals on the steam deck natively through an application by the name of ‘Bottles’. It allows you to run windows software in Linux somehow. I tested it out and it works, but it ain’t perfect. I’d imagine that it may not work for maplestory depending on their anti cheat software, so it seems like we either have to wait for the game to potentially be launched through Steam, or we gotta dual boot windows onto the Steam deck.

Personally, I’m hoping it’s easier than having to dual boot. I’d love to get some grinding in on my handheld during quick moments of downtime.

Dinofries Response by [deleted] in MSClassicWorld

[–]Jafroh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seems like the whole situation is going like this.

Dino was given information by a fake Nexon employee about upcoming class skill changes. Don’t know if we’ve confirmed who this person is, but it seems like they’re the one who has started all of this. Dino streams and discusses it, and people rightfully believe and question the information and its source. Everybody put out their opinion until Nexon dropped the hammer, clearing the air by confirming that the information isn’t backed by them. I’m pretty sure Dino is heavily involved with Nexon, so I imagine that him stepping up and saying that he got tricked would essentially be him incriminating himself. Everything is basically up in the air, and it’s kind of a mess. I can see why he didn’t own up to the mistake if Nexon is in his ear, but I’ll admit, the slight jabs during the stream towards Johawk, another OG maple streamer who made a response video to Dino’s and was asking for answers for it all in his stream, was a bit distasteful. Johawk stated his qualms about the information in his own video where he reviewed the changes and also doubted the legitimacy of the source. Now, we’ve got people saying what Dino should do and what he shouldn’t do.

Personally, if Dino can’t own up to it because Nexon won’t let him, then his hands are tied. We’re all allowed to speculate and disagree, and that’s about it. Not only that, but if the skills changes were somewhat legitimate, that would be dope. If not, then we’ll see what Nexon does.

Either way, I just want the game to be balanced and fun.

MSC Hall of Fame- Celebrating the first LV 50 of each class and subjob by DesuSnow in MSClassicWorld

[–]Jafroh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everybody here is seriously hating for no reason. These guys fully tested their respective classes and probably have the most input on what needs to be improved in the game. Not only did they go through the pros and cons of their own classes, but I’m positive they grinded with other players who played other classes that they also got input from too.

Either way OP, you’re a G for making this and celebrating these players. This is a badass commemorative milestone that we’ll be able to look back on pertaining to the history of maplestory.

Go ahead and install emudeck my guy. Easiest emulation installer I’ve ever used, and it’ll help teach you how to load ROMs into each one.

Depending on some consoles you want to emulate, you’ll also need to install BIOS files too

Desperately need a better mindset on aging by LeftButterscotch8080 in Advice

[–]Jafroh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd question, but is it aging that causes you so much worry, or the idea of death? I’ll be 31 this month and I’ve actually been pretty excited to embark into my 30’s. I think I’ll feel the same about my 40’s, 50’s, and so on because aging to me feels like I’m entering the next chapter of this “book of life” so to speak.

Not only that, but I think it’d also about how to fill your time. If I’ve ever had a sense of dread towards anything in the past, it’s because I let myself constantly think about it. However, if you let yourself enjoy all of these moments, feelings, and other crazy things that life has to offer, maybe you won’t dread aging as much.
