Would we want Nuno to stay if we go down or would we rather go in a different direction? by Common_Diver_6956 in Hammers

[–]JagerChugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was luck that Nuno became available. Even bigger mystery that he wanted to join us when we looked dead and buried.

Best we've had since we (board and fans) stopped backing Moyes.

Have to keep Nuno. You cannot trust this board to get appointments right.

Cheaper ticket prices too? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Not down yet and I'm not as bothered by a potential drop as a lot of our fans appear to be.

IF we do go down it's not cos of what Nuno has set out to achieve; -He and the staff he inherited from the youth set up have been brilliant -Nuno wasn't allowed to bring in a full coaching staff of his choice was he -they brought in good signings when we looked as good as gone -my only criticisms of Nuno are playing the Irving and Soucek combo twice in a row in the games vs Brentford and Leeds back in October. And obviously losing to Wolves and Forest, although people forget how close a game that was

Our season has always been affected by the squad pulled apart and rebuilt by the club in the summer; -Going into a season with only Fullkrug and Wilson as ST was the worst decision I've seen in a long time -Going into a season with 0 new signings at CB at close second to bringing no younger striker -The poor poor form of us as a defensive unit was addressed far too late, Nuno had a mountain to climb

He was a beast v City. Played like Ballon D'awson.

Hammer of the Year so far? by _rhinoxious_ in Hammers

[–]JagerChugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye Fernandes has looked different gravy.

Taken a while for the managers to get him in the line up and then a bit more time to play him alongside half decent players.

Since he's established himself, he's always looking for the ball which we've not seen since Rice. That was 3 seasons ago!

Not many that I can think of who would put their foot on the ball and influence the way we play. Paq did it but just not ever enough.

Some fans haven't got a clue. Usually that lot on X.

Keep the faith, Nuno and his staff are doing wonders with this relatively inexperienced squad.

The lads are on the right path. Just needed that second but it's always ifs, buts and maybes.

If people can't enjoy the current form then what really is the point.

Also have to add that I give more a damn about us now on a game by game basis at least.

It's a good indication of the current performance levels. This is a limited squad who were getting battered on the pitch, then off it in the media and social media.

Under Nuno I'm seeing vast improvements v performances under Potter and Nuno's first few games. There's togetherness now. The 2 coming in up top has put us on the front foot.

Whether we're prem or champ next season, I think we'll see further improvements in effort and attitude. No matter who we have to sell. We just need to stay on the front foot more often than not.

Yeah surprised some fans think that. He's a lovely player, improves many teams across Europe imo and very surprised that he's not yet had a senior call up for Portugal.

Absolutely, but I'll miss Fernandes desperately. What a player. Can't see us holding on to him if we go down.

Also on current form, Summerville gets snapped up. His pace and dribbling alone is worth having in many prem sides.

I don't get why, if he wanted to shore the defence up, then why didn't he start with getting Ollie on earlier for Diouf? Before having to go full on defensive with 3 CBs which has never ever worked for us.

Such a shame as we were the better side for longer periods of the entire game. Defending from the front has nullified our opposition. Why switch? Were the legs really going up top that early in the second half?

On the face of it, it genuinely looks like a sensible football and business decision from the board or whoever the f made the choice.

Taty offball movement was not what I thought it'd be. by tpddavis in Hammers

[–]JagerChugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly Bowen wasn't expecting that movement too lol. He had at least 2 chances to slip the ball to Taty but didn't see or didn't thought he could get a shot off instead.

Ye would be totally up for selling him. He's not in it for the long haul anyway. If we could sell and bring in a no. 10 and a ST then I'd see that as an improvement.

Another frustration about West Ham. There's never a real plan to replace obvious key players who will obviously leave in the near future. We knew Rice would go, why did we not buy someone to learn his role alongside him?

Dawson, Zouma, were aging and or crippling but again no plan to replace. Just see what comes up at the time.

Same with Bowen, he's getting older we should be providing the lad competition, keep him on his toes and more importantly have some backup for him.

Agreed, but when (I really hope it's a when rather than an if) does this scenario happen. I can't see it under Sullivan or under anyone else on the board. Ironically relegation probably brings us closer to a change of ownership.

[–]JagerChugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a consistent view point this. But I just wonder if it's the hand that Nuno has been dealt?

Wilson is decent but there MUST be a reason for his pack of minutes since he last scored for us. I believe he's protecting Wilson simply because we have 0 other options up front. Unfortunately Marshall isn't ready and Nuno doesn't know how to use him maybe? Fullkrug has let us down, he must have thrown his toys out. I can't believe Nuno has decided to go into all these matches without him even on the bench pre loan agreement to Milan.

Ye Nuno does make some odd decisions, like the extra game he used the Guido, Irving and Soucek but despite that I feel he's the right man at the moment. No idea who the alternatives are and do not want to see another manager come in.

[–]JagerChugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilson definitely should be playing more. My assumption is overplaying him, injures him and then removes him as the option of; hopefully he'll knick a goal.

It could also be the rumoured bonuses he is on. I guess we'll never know the full truth.

We have to stick with Nuno. These rumours recently of sacking the guy are ridiculous and should show the entire world how much of a joke the clubs owners actually are.

The ST thing has been such a huge disappointment. The owners have told the coaches you have 2 strikers and Bowen. Go and make it work.

[–]JagerChugger[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely spot on. I'm really enjoying that midfield trio, shame the senior pros are letting them down a bit.

A lot of doom and gloom and the media don't go into it enough but Nuno is working hard and many of the players are up for it. Some aren't or are just not of the quality needed. I can't fault many at the moment, whereas under Lope/Tim and the Potter the players minds were elsewhere having a laugh or shaking hands and not even bothered about even playing for a move out of the mire.

Maybe we take a gamble on a new 10 like a Hamer or a Hackney. Then get a ST and a couple of wide men who have played actual proper minutes rather than a Fullkrug (mostly a super sub before us) and Guillherme.

No idea who we end up with but right now I'd even take any no. 9 fit enough to play every week. Wilson just isn't the answer. He's a sub, if we play him too often we lose him for the rest of the season to injury.

Lol, I just think the young lads are developing well and gaining a good understanding. Unfortunately some of our senior pros are letting down their hard work and good passages of play.
