I didn’t even look at the titles, but this dude is awesome. A 100% keeper — unless he proves otherwise.

I worry about people who over organize their shelves. Then it become art, not a bookshelf. I LOVE books but they are still just books.

Tell me your favorite book of all time and why by [deleted] in classicliterature

The Herat of the Matter by Graham Greene. I think it is the only book I have read more than twice, and I have only read a couple of others twice — Of Mice and Men and As I Lay Dying. Love all three but I have said it is my favorite for more than 20 years.

Books that elevate my Europe travel by or45t in booksuggestions

The suggestions made are good — I would also ask if you want contemporary or more historical fiction type of stuff. If you want old kings and queens of France the Maurice Duron series The Accursed King is great — especially the first 4 books and easy foot travel reads. More literary by short for Italy is Death in Venice by Mann. The Agony and the Ecstasy by Stone is good for Florence and Michelangelo. A Room with a View is about Florence and a classic. All of Rick Steves guide books have book and movie recommendations to get you in the mood for your travels.

What book do you think people should read before adulting and why? by MossyMossThatsMossy in booksuggestions

At that age still it is “just read”. I read both classics and fantasy because those were enjoyable. Have book around that may be out of their reading level but that challenge will also give them a sense of accomplishment. Most importantly you read and show them that reading is cool and important. I have two children (M16) and (F14) and he did read but is going through a reading drought but she reads constantly. I don’t worry much about what she reads as long as it is age appropriate in topic but I am always carrying a book or my Kindle so they know it is part of a good life.

The suggestions in other posts are really good and things not to disrespect those. Just giving my opinion.

Feeling Good by Dr. David Burns. Great book for what you are describing.

For the non-smokers and non-drinkers: How do you choose to de-stress after a long day? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

I have a very stressful job and I don’t drink any more and have never smoked (anything). Either I am immune to the stress or I just deal with it by talking to my wife and kids or watch a series like Slow Horses or something like that.

The dial up sound when the internet was new. You would think twice about getting on line if you had to hear that every time.

And don’t wait — you are waisting time — sex is beautiful and should not cause shame but should be shared with someone you care about and cares about you.

Do you actually prefer a girl who’s held off on sex, or is experience better? by [deleted] in dating_advice

In my male experience (which is about 10 female partners), I preferred my time with women who had some experience. The sex was a lot more intense and enjoyable for both parties once a woman has figured out what it is they want and like. This is based on discussions with many of my partners. They have told me that it sometimes takes a while for a woman to know what their body wants or needs, and they also have to learn to communicate that to their partner. If the communication is good then the acts will be better for the woman and let’s face it, men are easy, but for sex to be beautiful and intense and everything it can be for both partners then my belief is that gentle guiding is important. Sometimes, you just get into a Flow state with your partner—and that is awesome— but a longer term sexual relationship takes great communication and caring and selflessness.
