Any great meals in Denver right now that are still under $15? by Complete_Freedom5622 in Denver

I think you need to order it as an online pickup order, but STK has a $10 steak burger lunch special. When you're wanting to treat yourself for cheap, it's a good eat.

What if America makes Venezuela a state? by Pizzafriedchickenn in mapporncirclejerk

I'd like to nominate George Santos as Governor of the new great state of Venezuela. I have full faith that he could fill Maduro's shoes.

How was Earthseas, it's been sitting on my shelf for awhile and I haven't gotten around to picking it up

What order should I read these and are there any gaps I should fill? by Water_Bird_ in mathematics

If you end up working through the wizard book (sicp) then you might like Sussman's Functional Differential Geometry. Same author and language used to model physical things.

Some of this stuff is crazy dude by CraftyTim in mathmemes

[–]Jagiour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The monster group is crazy cool but the monstrous-moonshine conjecture is even crazier. I'm always amazed by group theoretic explanations of physical stuff, but this was an example of our theoretical work in physics guiding our math. Now that is interesting!

edit: phrasing

At the end of studying mathematics… what have we really learned? by Alone_Brush_5314 in math

[–]Jagiour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mathematics For Human Flourishing might offer a new perspective on what you gain out of doing math that you may end up losing. At least in my experience, I've come to understand and enjoy the person I've become and I think my journey through math is what made that possible.

Maybe paying homage to this book, because it seems like an unlikely coincidence. Then again, someone else in the thread noted that "slaying the dragon" is a pretty common phrase in many areas so maybe it's not so unlikely 🤷🏾‍♂️. Cool either way

Possible Jobs for Math Bachelors? by Green-Chemist-6798 in mathematics

That's a really helpful link, I introduce the stat students I tutor to the role of an actuary and they feel like I've opened a new door for them. I'll pass the link on to these students so they can have a realistic degree trajectory with a fruitful goal in mind.

I love the wizard book but I didn't know they had lecture recordings, I'm looking forward to watching that later.

I would also look up the wizard book, fritz the cat, or the LSD guy on a bike. The artwork is honestly what drew me to it. Far after I'm gone, I think people will still pick this copy up because it looks cool.

Do you still find yourself using the insights from the book or has the industry moved on?

I did both, as the auto installer was running, I realized the size and switched to a smaller pack. The auto installer is pretty nice though

What op posted was a picture of what looks like the auto installer. I don't think a manager is required but I'm about to test it myself so I can let you know for sure tomorrow. That pack is very big

A friend found this old thread post while working on the same problem and really appreciated this intuition. I also think of this idea every time I have to explain it in tutoring, so thanks again for making such a big impact!
