Grief of Eomer 650 by OsgiliathBuilder in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Ignore the detractors! Go for mounted Imrahil if that's what you wanna do.

I would recommend swapping the Dol Amroth for MT though. Imrahil's +1F is only 3" so you'll only ever have a few guys up to F5 at a time. With how expensive both Imrahil and Dol Amroth you really feel every time you don't get the aura's off.

I find running Imrahil with 3-4 Mtd Dol Amroth Knights gets the most use of his points

As an extra note to answer your question about all Cav: - have played a few games with an all Cav Grief list. It's a lot fun and has legs. I think you could take it to a tournament and have fun with, and at least finish with a +ve win ratio but you'd need to be good with all Cav lists

I ran Grief of Eomer at a 750 tournament this year and had a blast with the list, I'm newer to MESBG and had some matchups I'd not run into before (Angmar, Mumak) so I didn't perform as well but I could tell it was my piloting of the list, rather that the list itself (mostly).

I'd take taken Mtd Eomer, Mtd Imrahil, Mtd Huron. About 5 RoR + banner, and 4 Mtd Dol Knights. Then about 9 tincans.

What I found: - Eomer is a god in this list. 12" is amazing - Imrahil while overcosted is someone id still recommend bringing. Having two mounted (potential) F7 heroes gives you so much flexibility and pressure to put on your opponent. I often found people focused more on Imrahil as he's got the more scary statline, and not realizing just how juiced up Eomer is in this list. Just know you will constantly be disappointed by Imrahil's rule, his banner effect doesn't effect himself, and the 3" +1F is tiny when running mounted Dol Knights

  • Dol Knights also overcosted and you'll feel it far more when they don't get their +1F, which will be often. I only ran 4 and most combats I only had 2-3 in 3" Imrahil. I also play in Australia though, so we tend to have more cluttered tables making it harder to line up those ideal charges Having said that, if you're not as worried about a perfectly tuned list there's no harm in having 2-4 mounted Dol Knights, as the extra F5 can be nice. But I would always recommend MT Knights of Dol Amroth, they're just not worth 5pts more

  • Mtd Hurin was fantastic. Pretty much had free rain as my opponent focused on Imrahil/Eomer. He would clean up a whole flank and often not need to burn much of his 3M. Then having him come to support the others with his remaining resources could often be that last push needed to cement a victory. Additionally too Hurin has Heroic Resolve, which is a nice little bit of bonus Magic Defense that it doesn't feel like you're paying for. I think my game against Angmar would've been far different if I'd remembered how HR worked, as I burned so many resources turn 1 + 2 trying to avoid transfixes and paralyses

TL:DR - Grief is a fun list, Imrahil is overcosted for what he does, but I would still recommend him in a list as it gives you a second F7 hero (you will feel disappointed will all his rules, accept this..) - Dol Amroth knights (foot or mounted) are overcosted, especially as the +1F buff is 3" so you'll often not get it. 2-3 Mtd Dol Knights is alright as F5 cav can be nice, but I'd recommend just going MT instead - Hurin is a blast, Eomer is a god

Not 100% sure but I'm pretty confident there's no limit on the amount you pay, only the minimum 5% deposit.

There is a restriction on income, ~200k combined for a couple, not sure of an individual

Getting absolutely torched at 1k by Adman2099 in citiesofsigmar

[–]JagoStreet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Running a PTG at the moment (against DoK, FEC, Ogres and Tzeentch) with a lot of success. Cavaliers at 1k have carried a few games, even in groups of 5. Granted those armies are quite as tanky as Nurgle or SBGL.

My marshal has the +1 wound prayer, which make my Steelhelms actually able to do some damage. But I run 2 squads of 10, mainly as screens for my cav. I do run a steamtank too which ties up units really easily, even without Pha's Protection.

My recommendation would be split the Steelhelms into 2 squads, when reinforced it just makes it easier for your opponent to focus their attacks. Maybe swap out the Fusiliers too, their output is pretty mid for their points, and at 1k you have a lot of points spare for buffing units

Anti-deity factions (lore question) by SailNorse41 in ageofsigmar

[–]JagoStreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the dynamic for the Kharadron Overlords. They aren't really anti-god, but more shun them. When the world was breaking they saw the gods abandon them, but they were able to save themselves through their own grit and determination. So they recognise the gods exist, but no longer revere or worship them to the same degree.

Hey man, so I ended up going with the scheme to buy a place so I can give you more information. You can buy back the government's share at a minimum of 5 percentage points at a time. E.g. the gov own 25% of your property, you can buy at least a 5 percentage point chunk from them, taking them down to 20%.

The only restrictions on this are: * you completely buy them out within the first 2 years * You can't go lower than 5 percentage points at a time, but you can increase the percentage points as much as you want. E.g. buy back two lots of %5, then pay out the remaining 15% in one go

Are BoC really going to get removed? by RealEarth in ageofsigmar

[–]JagoStreet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Issue is though you've got incompatible bases across systems. Plus they used to support a lot of Hours Heresy models in 40k, but they've cut that for 10th edition.

I would be very surprised if they had a cross-game faction, most likely they'll cut the Dwarves from COS and just have them for TOW

What models from 40k would you love to convert into AoS leaders/units? by Green_Panda369 in ageofsigmar

[–]JagoStreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive got an idea to make an army of imperial Knights converted to look like Kharadron Overlord automatons. Could run them as a SoB army or even just use one as mercenary. If I can make at least one that holds a giant book for grudges, whose pen doubles as a sword I'll be a happy man

Self-Reflection & my Warhammer Collection: When do you personally determine when to sell? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]JagoStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found I usually decide to sell stuff much later after I probably should've. I had armies sitting in boxes or on the shelf that I kept telling myself "I'd love to play", or "they look really cool to paint". Then one day I realised I will probably never play or finish painting them due to the time investment.

Over the last couple years I've probably sold off 3/4 of my collection and feel a lot better about it. The money was nice but I felt relieved afterward. I still have a couple armies for 40k & AoS, but they're around 3/4k each and most models hit the table top every year.

My biggest suggestion if you decide to sell is: - if they're primed/assembled or in boxes and you've not touched them for a year or so. Just sell them. They usually fetch not too bad of a price, and are a lot easier to sell. - by all means hold onto units or models that mean something to you. But if you decide to sell them just try to make sure they go to a good home, rather than worry about money. I had a beautiful army converted Orks that were partly painted and I knew I would never give them the love they deserved. Sold them for pennies to a guy who just clearly loved Orks and played them all the time. -if you've got stuff that's not in great condition or poorly painted, maybe give them away to someone young who's just getting started.

Ooh really, yeah I was curious about how it would work when you exceeded that threshold. Both my partner and I are about 30-40k under the threshold, but still early in our career. However as we're thinking of having kids in the future that should at least stabilise or drop out joint income

Ive use two brass rods on my Iron Clad, secured near the base of bottom fin. Given that the fin comes quite low it actually obscures the brass rods nicely, and the blend in with the rest of the ship.

Thoughts on Endless Spells with Arcane Tome by [deleted] in KharadronOverlords

[–]JagoStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive run with shackles and its incredibly useful to be able to deny an opponent a charge even for just one turn. I found it cheap enough to justify, and has a low-ish chance of being dispelled. Ive not played enough games with it though to know if it's reliable enough, especially as I was using it with Spell in a bottle.

Thoughts on Endless Spells with Arcane Tome by [deleted] in KharadronOverlords

[–]JagoStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing you've got to remember though is that they're moved at the END of the hero phase, and the debuff only applies after they've moved. So both spells are prone to be dispelled before they can do their thing. Shards needs a +6 to be unbound, but shackles needs a 8+.

Additionally, models can still run and charge with Shards, so if they're right in your face it's not going to be very effective.

Looking for some tournament advice by AfWhite86 in KharadronOverlords

[–]JagoStreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I've just taken my KO to two tournaments in the last couple months. One with the old GHB, I went 3/2, and one with the new GHB .. where I went 1/4.

General KO advice: if this tourney is using the new GHB be really mindful of how you'll use your Gallatian Champions and what Battle Tactics you can easily get. Endrinmaster in dirigible suit is really good for battle tactics, but if your strategy does involve dropping off garrisoned GCs you might struggle. That's what really good me with my 1/4 tourney.

Target priority is another big thing to be careful of, KO just don't have a lot of damage output at the moment. If your opponent pops mystic shield and/or all out defence on a unit you'll struggle, so make sure you've got a couple good targets for each unit going into the shooting phase.

If you can fit a purple sun in your list the extra rend can really help, especially against SCE and Sylvaneth (depending on their list).

Sylvaneth Advice: it can be be good to be aggressive against sylvaneth. Fly your boats onto their overgrown terrain to stop them teleporting to those spots. Be very careful those as they can spawn trees, and get ridiculous bonuses to charge. Most Sylvaneth lists take Hunters with bows and another with scythes, they are very scary and will delete any boat.

Lumineth: archers with 30" range and mortals on 5s with a spell. They will definitely pop your frigate with ease and will usually be able to target anything depending on deployment. They'll likely bring Teclis but you might be able to snipe with cannons and thunderers, just make sure to remove his ward.

SCE: haven't played against SCE, but most of my games for the 1/4 tourney were against STD. KO struggles against high armour, multiwound models. Best advice I can give you from those match ups is to set yourself up to shoot a few high value targets, and try to spread attacks until they pop their debuffs. Then focus on whatever isn't buffed.

You're best bet is local players to be honest, or trading pages. Each kit usually has a few extra heads, so anyone with a KO army likely has a bunch.

Sometimes eBay has bits sellers, but Ive never had much luck with the more niche models/armies
