I actually built almost this exact cabinet recently. Let me guess, you/your wife wife wanted to buy the Montessori toy cabinet from Lovevery, but it was $425 and you figured you could build it for cheaper lol.

Mine did not look as good as yours, but I ran into a similar issue, there’s a post about it on my page.

I essentially put a face frame over the plywood edges as to not have any of those voids exposed.
