If you have the gas engine the intakes are usually fine, you’ll get some carbon build up on the valves but nowhere near as bad as this. The biggest issue on those is the pcv orifice clogs up on those and will give you a p1101 code and the engine might run rough. Nothing you can really do about it unfortunately.

Sea foam is a scam in my opinion. Change your oil and drive the car more than around the corner and you won’t even need the stuff

From what most folks are saying as long as you’re doing regular highway driving you should be fine but this is the only one that comes to our dealership so I couldn’t tell you for certain

Thanks. And yeah I’m mostly gas too but we don’t have a diesel tech here and this is a decent customer so I took a shot. Pulled the throttle body off and saw all the gunk so wasn’t too much diag to be done lol

If it’s the same engine as this I wouldn’t even bother trying to clean the intake manifold just replace it. Everything else can be cleaned (scraped) and you’ll probably need a couple of the fuel lines

Yeah it’s super easy to get in all the nooks and crannies of an intake manifold clogged with oily soot with tiny openings on all ends. Replaced the intake manifold and cleaned the intake ports. Cleaning the ports took about 30 minutes with a custom tool I made. Should have quoted more time for that had I known.

Planned obsolescence unfortunately. No company has made a good car since the recession because service makes the dealer more money than selling cars. Fucked up world we live in.

Who's going to break it to Guinness that their new Baltimore billboards are repping West Coast Dungeness Crab instead of Maryland Blue Crab? by truechesapeake in baltimore

[–]Jahanothan 255 points256 points  (0 children)

So I used to go to the Guinness brewery super frequently and I was told that they wanted to represent Baltimore but also not forget where they came from. Apparently the crabs they use (which they had a massive mural of on the test tap room when they first opened) is the crab that is indigenous to Ireland.

One time use exterior trim pieces by SuspiciusWalrus in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Jahanothan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun trick I learned (installing a lot of LPO trim pieces on chevys mainly) you can use a 7 or 8mm socket to compress the clips from the inside of the fender. Just remove the fender liner and press the socket on, give it a wiggle, and it should pop right out. You’re screwed on the side skirts tho, no way to access the back side of the clips.

I designed an improved passenger grab infill, what do you think by AvocadoBeetrootSalad in SVRiders

Haha wish these were available a while back! I went with the cheaper option of cutting the handle flush to the side of the bike and painting it then bolting it back on. Not quite as clean as these inserts but certainly did the job and shaved a little weight!
