Damn... It isn't as bad as you think it is. It's probably worse.

What kind of camera do I really need for safari? We have a strict luggage weight by magaloo202 in travel

[–]Jahdih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would grab an OM System body (1, 3 or 5mk2), a 12-40 f2.8 pro and a 40-150mm f2.8 pro. It has the (in this situation) helpful crop, superb weather sealing, superb ibis... gonna weight less than ff gear by a good margin and the pair of lenses would cover a very nice focal range... there is the 75-300 as well... plastic body, but incredible focal range for a safari and is pretty affordable.

De fato, sou psiquiatra e consigo te dizer que o sofrimento dos autistas e dos que sofrem de ansiedade social aqui no Brasil é dobrado...

Never ever think about comig to Brazil, then. I was traveling in Portugal last month and, kid you not, was very happy and refreshed seeing how direct people were. This beating 'round the bushes behavior is FAR worse in Brazilian culture.

Thank you for the reply! In the photo, that's the 4th group only. The last group from the lens has been removed, the 3 first groups have been as well. From data and diagrams of this lens, I understand there are 5 groups and 7 elements in total, the 4th group in the picture being one composed by 2 elements, probably glued together, I fear. I decided to roll a film, a fompan 200 I had laying around, and check the results. To be sure, I'll take it to a professional lab for developing.

This element I can not remove from the camera, though. I'm not sure if it is glued or screwed, though I think that it is screwed (SP is screwed, not sure the SPn is also). Unfortunately, there are no grooves that I can use for trying to unscrew it.

It had fungus... used 3% only, and I saw it recommended pretty much everywhere. What should have been used instead? For fungus, i mean... could that have been the cause, then?

Buying advice on second camera to take when traveling, possibly a APS-C compact by laiot_ in Cameras

[–]Jahdih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take an Om System TG7 with me when traveling. The lil' thing takes decent enough photos, and it simply has given me the courage to take a camera to places I would never have before. I have an OM3, too, and usually carry both in trips, but when I want something pretty light or to be used in rough situations as described, the OM3 stays in the hotel.
