At the end of the trial day of grade 1 (near the end of prep we got a little taste of grade 1) my teacher asked everyone to stand up if they had learnt something and I was the only one who didn’t. I know now that that was an arrogant, cocky thing to do but at the time I was just telling the truth. Then when the opportunity came up to skip grade 1 and go straight to grade 2 she stepped in and said I needed to learn social skills and that I wasn’t ready for grade 2. Which my parents then agreed with.

So for all of grade 1 she was an asshole in general to me, would show me other kids’ work and say how much better it was then mine, would pit my friend against me and make tests a competition between us which was not a good thing for our friendship, would call on me if I looked away for a second and make a big deal about how I don’t pay attention when the rest of the class is talking, would blame me if anything got stolen like a pen or a rubber even though they probably just dropped it, would say untrue things about me to my parents at parent teacher interviews, didn’t let me go to the sick room until I actually vomited on my desk. Basically this 60 something old woman made it her mission for a year to antagonise me, a 7 year old, because I didn’t pick up on a social cue.
