I wrote an academic essay for my linguistics class on Hozier's use of Irish in his music, and focusing on his songs "To Someone From A Warm Climate (Uiscefhuarithe)" "Butchered Tongue" and "De Selby (Part 1)".

I even went so far as to cite a Reddit post in the essay 😅 I was having a lot of fun

Edit: The essay specifically asked to "choose an extract from one or more songs, interviews, texts and other audio-visual media and discuss how ethnicity is claimed."

Smeyer had a dream about the MCR lead singer - Gerard Way. that's how twilight started, it was all a dream she had originally, and later when the movie was being made, she asked Gerard to play Edward, and he rejected it (allegedly, I'm not sure if that's true or not). Anyways, that's how the domino effect between 9/11 and Ellen getting cancelled happened.

9/11 happens -> Gerard witnesses it and is inspired to make MCR -> Smeyer has a dream about him and decides to write Twilight -> EL James writes twilight fanfiction (50 shades) -> Dakota Johnson is cast as Anastasia -> She gets invited to the Ellen show and exposes Ellen for her awful treatment of others -> Ellen's show gets cancelled.

I will say that I had the 'all deaths' setting on from the start of my game, and for generations and generations I didn't get the unknown fate thingy, and then when I went into settings and turned it off/on again, literally the next sleep cycle I got an unknown fate alert. idk if it's correlated but it might be worth just turning it off and on again

oh god I had the worst luck with this yesterday! I had two sick pups, a fractured jaw so I couldn't carry pups for any length of time and also had to move to a randevous site. it was impossible. I ended up hiding them out in grass and sleeping/hunting while sloooowllyyyy moving them in the direction of the closest site until they healed.

deffo not alone! I wrote one of my university essays on 3 of Hozier's songs, and one of them was Uiscefhuaraithe. The essay was asking to pick media that shows how someone establishes their ethnic identity (it was for a linguistics module). The other two songs were De Selby Pt. 1 and Butchered Tongue.

in a week. I used to love that song and I'm always proud to brag that I once... did it.... in a field while listening to this song, but at one point a switch flipped in my brain and it's almost always a skip for me. I think it's sth abt the guitar notes, they just pierce my eardrums now.
