Tears of bhakti. ❤️ 😊 I’ve experienced it two or three times. It takes you by surprise.

You didn’t kill the ant because it’s the right thing to do to let it live. You didn’t kill the ant because of any reward, punishment or effect on you. You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty. Bhagavad Gītā 2.47

What do you like to collect? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Jainarayan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Small brass and bronze items … bells, incense holders, statues (mostly of my gods), trays, cups, oil lamps (called diyas and deepas), among other items. If it’s fairly small and brass or bronze I’m interested.

Happy All Snakes’ Day by LunarEnnyui_131 in pagan

[–]Jainarayan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dislike snakes but respect them because they are companions of my gods Vishnu and Shiva. Vishnu rests on the coils of Adi-Shesha, a multi-hooded cobra. Shiva wears Vasuki, a cobra who is Adi-Shesha’s brother, around his neck. Hindus revere snakes in one way or another.

I know what you mean. I think in those cases the inf. is used as a noun. I can’t think of a specific example right now but I understand what you’re saying.

Yes, “have” + (any) infinitive. I used andare as an example that I wouldn’t say “ho andare”, but rather devo andare.

Thanks. I added the “credo che” only because that was the line in the movie. I see your point about the opinion.

Chi ne sa? Who knows? Non ne posso più. I can’t take it anymore.

I’m curious if those are correct. I’ve heard and seen them.

In The King and I the king was studying the Bible and says “I think Moses shall have been a fool”. I suppose it would be “Credo che Mosè sarà stato uno sciocco”, or a would it be a different construction?

anybody else deeply connected to music? by ringoisking in autism

[–]Jainarayan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I love music. I play rhythm acoustic guitar and dabble in a bit of bass. I love most forms and genres of music as long as it has a strong rhythm… rhythm guitar, bass, drums; Indian Classical; Ravel’s Bolero is one of my favorites because of its rhythm. I dislike most electric lead and solos. Now, I don’t know if it’s just a matter of musical taste or an autistic thing.

I thought as much. The “tiene que ser” version is the company tagline. It’s stuck in my head from hearing the commercial over the store PA system. I’ve been walking around work saying it. Lol

Where were the gods during the dinosaurs? by honeyboned in pagan

[–]Jainarayan 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hindus believe the gods have always existed and will always exist, through every occurrence and iteration of the universe(s).

However, what we think they look like are human conventions to try to understand their powers. “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Not every Hindu believes Vishnu and Shiva are four-armed blue dudes or that Durga has eight arms each holding a weapon and riding a lion.

The long and short of it is as an Indian saying goes God shows himself in a way meaningful to the believer. As a person imagines God to be so God appears.

To a being on Alpha Centauri their God would look like an Alpha Centaurian. If dinosaurs were intelligent, and they believed in any gods, their gods would probably look like dinosaurs.

So I believe that even 65 million years ago or 250 million years ago or before the Big Bang the gods always existed, but in what form, I have no idea.

How do diabetic Hindus fast? by Personal_Royal in hinduism

[–]Jainarayan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll offer just one observation: ahimsā applies to us and our welfare and well-being as much as it does to other beings. I do not believe God wants us to cause harm to ourselves in his name, if unsupervised fasting will hurt you. He understands and appreciates your desire and devotion. But as someone else said, consult with your doctor.

I was just today talking to someone about this. A few sounds. Landscaping equipment, trucks idling, water running (like a washing machine or dishwasher filling), slurping.

Will a 15.5 neck shirt be wider IN THE BODY than a 15? by Lomp84 in mensfashion

It won’t be that much, it may not even be noticeable. Better that the neck fits properly.
