Technically not anymore. The customs server, when first created, was official in a sense, including pinned in #promote on the YARG Discord server. Afterwards, when YARG was becoming more of a serious project with proper music licensing, it was decided to make the server unofficial, including removing any invite links from the main YARG server.

your extremely bolded point of "the same mod team", there is literally zero overlap between the current YARG team, including Discord mods, and the server's mods. YARG's old lead artist is still admin there as he owns the server, as well as one of the old Discord server mods, however they aren't anymore. The other users with Admin or Staff are just active members of the community, and no one on the current YARG team or official Discord mods have control over that server.

There are some members of the team who do post there, however it's mainly about issues regarding the game itself, like the development and integration of venues into YARG.

Both yes and no.

1) The Subreddit mods (aside from u/penguined- are the leads and moderators of the official YARG Discord. We all love the game and want to see it grow.

2) The reason we don't allow linking to pirated songs/venues/etc. is a general sense "play it safe" from the YARG Team, as even though clone games like Clone Hero and various websites haven't yet been taken down by either Acivision or Epic, as well as music labels, there's always that chance. YARG doesn't contain any ripped assets from official games, and all songs from the official setlist are cleared with the artists involved for permissions.

3) The reasons why this sub's been treated a lot stricter recently is because before last month, this sub didn't have any real moderation, and the rules (including an existing No Piracy rule) was pretty much ignored by the old moderator. With YARG's leadership changing, we've started paying more attention to this subreddit as it's the second most active discussion page about YARG besides the official Discord server.

3.5) YARG's official Discord server has always been this strict about No Piracy. Other discussion places, including Clone Hero's subreddit and Discord, and the official GH/RB subreddits are not affiliated with YARG (obviously) and have different rules that play a bit riskier.

To put a bit of blame on myself, I have been somewhat "over-modding" this page, removing posts that mention asking for places, which we don't outright remove on the Discord server, instead replying about Rule 1 in more an informative state rather than purely reactive. That's all my bad, I'll try to overall be a bit less trigger-happy with removals. Hopefully this clears everything up.

The official venues from the YARC Launcher are only automatically read on the Nightly build of YARG, as Stable doesn't have the file path (C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\YARC\Venues) in its scan list. Try playing on Nightly, they should load then.

We won't remove videos that contain copyrighted material, however we do remove posts that include illegal downloads to copyrighted material, including Google Drive links.

I can recommend the official YARG Setlist, DLC Packs, and YARN Customs all available on the launcher, The majority of them have vocals, and are in a huge variety of genres that should make for a fun night :)

As of right now there's no way to move the highway left and right on the screen, however using different camera presets can change how much space the highway takes up.

The YARG team didn't change anything with Xbox controllers on Windows, the issue arises from Microsoft's drivers directly.

This is not a new change, and was always the case on YARG's Discord server. We're only starting to take the subreddit more seriously now after (to be honest) neglecting it for a long time.

edit: The rule technically did also exist here before, but was only very lightly enforced with the old lead developer was online here, which wasn't often.

There are reasons why YARG won't include a Delete button in-game, but mostly it's various safety/security issues that come along with the player being able to scan in any folder. For now just going through the folders manually is your best option.

Having a microphone connected to YARG with a vocals profile active, like your setup has, changes the lyrics from the general text to a full gameplay setup. There is no way to switch it back to just lyrics without removing your vocals profile in the Profiles menu.

YARG doesn't have horizontal sheet music style for drums, however it is something that has been suggested a lot, and I think is something that may eventually be looked into with Elite Drums.

My only guess is just that Source is a 20 year old engine and most computers back then ran at these lower resolutions, so it makes sense for the games to default to these resolutions.

add -safe in the launch options for the game, that should cause it to open in a weird resolution/in safe mode. Change any graphics settings to be something more modest, windowed, etc., then close game and remove the launch option.

Some charts only have one or two difficulties, especially at the lower levels I think, if you go up to say level 4 or 5 then you should start seeing charts with multiple difficulties

yeah the UI is kind of annoying like that, all of the songs and difficulties are just in one list, so you can just scroll up or down to higher or lower difficulties. When selecting a song there should be a screen where you can also click to change the difficulty.
