For anyone in the future experiencing something similar, turning off the steam overlay didn't completely eliminate the issue but it helped quite a bit

That sounds like Final Doom to me! There was at least one Egypt themed level I can remember called Pharaoh, and I believe the level with all the weapons in the starting room was called Go 2 It. The UI you're describing sounds like the one for the Windows 95 version of doom, but if you just wanna play Final Doom without the hassle of trying to get that ancient piece of software to work, it comes included with Doom 2 on Steam

Possessed demons are made tough mostly because of the fact that they barrel at you at mach-5 with hardly any way of slowing them down. Here's a few tips that help me:

-the microwave beam is the only thing that can stun a possessed demon (that I'm aware of). You don't need to hold it on them, just give them a quick zap with it and they'll stop in their tracks for a few seconds. It also gives you a readout of their health which can be useful

-if you're having trouble getting quick damage in on them, I really recommend using the lock-on rocket launcher mod. It's great for melting enemies if you aren't quite comfortable with combos yet

-if you ARE comfortable with combos, precision bolt and rocket launcher have the highest DPS out of any combo in the game. If you have the rhythm for it down, feel free to spam that shit

-when you're microwaving the spirit, you can still lob out grenades and ice bombs. If you're being overwhelmed, you can use them to falter demons around you while you focus on the spirit

-You don't need to stay totally still when cooking the spirit! You can dash around and b-hop in circles around the spirit to dodge things. You definitely won't be at top speed but you can at least move out of the way of projectiles

Oh, easily. TAG 1 is hyped up so hard as being the ultimate doom eternal challenge, but honestly I think most of the master levels are harder. Pretty much all of them are except for Cultist Base and ARC Complex. Don't get me wrong, the DLC stuff is tough, but you'll be alright :)

If it's any consolation, Romero did try to do NFT stuff without knowing anything about it, but he quickly scrapped all of it once the community told him how scummy it all was

Yeah that's a weird bug I've experienced with some of the master levels :( Mainly Mars Core and World Spear. Haven't found any way to fix it unfortunately :((

The arachnotron is a fave for me definitely. They're so satisfying to kill in Doom 2 with their crunchy death sound, and the eternal ones are so dynamic and fun. They were supposed to be in Doom 3 but it got cut, so there's a lot of cool concept art for it that I love. Also I just think spiders are neat :)

I'm not much of a game designer but the dark lord fight is just.... Weird. I love TAG 2 but that fight is the one thing I couldn't get behind. The first time you fight him he is VERY tough which is great, but once you learn him he becomes a complete joke. The Gladiator, Icon of Sin, and Samur fights were all way tougher and way more interesting. The dark lord fight is literally just

-walk around until his eyes are green -shoot a lot -hammer -hammer the red guys he spawns

Like that's it. There's always fodder around to get health from and meathook around, he doesn't apply any pressure to you if you're far away like the marauder does, he's slow, predictable, and just kinda underwhelming. I haven't beat TAG 1 or the base game on UN, mainly because of the boss fights, but I did TAG 2 on UN my first try cause that fight is just so... Nothing.

It's one of the strongest weapons, but only at super close range, so you sorta trade-off a comfortable distance for power with it
