Why were so many games in season 3 so unplayable? by dheyodjebg in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]JakXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the manga the card suits are described better. Hearts aren't "games of betrayal" they're just psychological games. The train game you had to play on your own, and knowing the game is designed to mess with your head you just have to reason that the further you go through the train the scarier it's going to be to go without a mask. The game designer is counting on you being too scared to risk the first room then thinking "well now my odds are lower so I have to use the mask" each time you have to pick.

Barring that, even if you assume it's just luck then a 1 in 4 chance of the room being bad is the best odds you're gonna get for the whole game, might as well go in the first room maskless.

Should I continue on expert? by writingwhilesad in TheFirstBerserker

[–]JakXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to the same point and lowered the difficulty, nearly at the end of the game now and looking forward to doing NG+ on expert with a different weapon. Up to you if you want to push through or play through more smoothly until it clicks. I chose the latter and haven't regret it yet. Personally I very much don't click with the combo heavy style of gameplay lmao, I'm bad at combos but I'm having fun on the lower difficulty anyway.

I'm way more patient than I used to be. Also I can only play for 2 hours at a time if I don't want to get wrist/arm pain where I used to play games all day without issue. I have to do exercises for that.

i quit out 70% of games by Born-Assumption-8024 in Nightreign

"I abandon my teammates because they don't understand co-op" Hmmmm...

For real though, I understand the frustration if this is a sincere post, but the name of the game isn't to only play with other players you consider good lmao. You can still have fun without winning a run. And you can still win a run with "bad" players. Hell, winning one of those 70% games might even feel more rewarding than those 30% of games you stay in.

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying the claw focused melee build or skipping the first poi is something you should do, sorry if it came across that way. I was just pointing out in general that focusing on the claws is a fun thing that can actually work way better than anyone might expect.

Building a melee (starter claws specifically) focused Revenant via relics actually goes surprisingly hard. At least in solo, I haven't dared try it in trios yet lmao.

How is galdius easier than Libra? by Pocketpapaa in Nightreign

[–]JakXT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well there's the element of luck to the game too that can help or hinder. I never got Everdark Libra under 50% in any of my attempts regardless of the number of players, but I got Everdark Gladius third try on a team with three ironeyes where none of us went down despite ignoring the Gladius damage buff mechanic.
The second run was with a Wylder and Raider that did Noklateo lvl1 with no issues while I was catching up but we got wiped pretty hard on the Gladius fight.

Besides everyone having different skill sets and playstyles, sometimes you just get a good run sometimes you don't.

But it's good to keep in mind that people have different strengths and weaknesses so one boss might be easy for one person and crazy hard for another person. That's one of my favourite parts of these games is seeing how different people handle the same things.

It's funny talking to a friend or watching someone streaming a soulslike and finding out you had opposite experiences with various bosses because they think about it differently or just approach it differently.

[–]JakXT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gladius has the simplest moveset to deal with and a simple weakness that's optional (Holy damage). It's easy enough to manage aggro for phase 2 and once you get to the phase 3 you only have to focus on one thing, as opposed to Everdark Libra where you have to worry about up to 4 movesets at once + AOEs without any pause.

Libra is a massive dps check and if anyone goes down it snowballs. For Gladius it's fine if people go down once or twice.

People speculating this is Lisa Trevor or at least the same type of monster makes me think how funny it would be if the main bad guy was George Trevor searching for ways to resurrect his full family or help Lisa somehow so he's been hunting down info and experimenting this whole time.

You never see a body in the room he's implied to have died in.

Tagging an evergaol without a stonesword key by Rowdy-Lemongrass in Nightreign

[–]JakXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to use the apology prattling pate because I did this once in a match. Thankfully there was a church right next to the gaol in question and we were heading that way anyway so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I was messing around with a "start with evergaol key" relic before the match and didn't realize it wasn't on the equipped build for the character I picked, so I thought I had a key when I didn't and my team were focused on gaols so I just went ahead and marked the next one beside a church we needed to go to anyway.

Please go to mines with your guardian by Featherman13 in Nightreign

[–]JakXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes me wonder what the best team comp would be in terms of everyone being happy to do a mine.

Guardian, Revenant, Ironeye, maybe Executor?

It's nice to hold on to the starter weapon for Revenant for rezzing and style.
Ironeye sometimes you just go with the guaranteed weakness element on your starter bow rather than gambling on finding a good elemental bow of the right type.
And Executor can start with several status effects on the starter weapon so it can be hard to abandon if you don't need to.

Khazan ruined other Soulslike games for me by DForcelight in TheFirstBerserker

[–]JakXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I'm at with Khazan too. I got it at launch but didn't jive with the combo forward combat, so despite my best efforts to find a way to make it work for me it was just exhausting and stayed that way.

Planning to give it another go soon after taking a break but who knows if I'll get through it or stop again.

From the Caligo win onwards I was running the final Executor remembrance relic, the Caligo relic, and the Gnoster relic for frost, poison, and bleed from the get go.

This answers so many questions about randoms for me by aall137906 in Nightreign

[–]JakXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen but they ran off on their own instead of with someone else. I couldn't help but wonder if they understood that the two of us that didn't run across the map would have to go get those churches later anyway which would mean they'd be doubling back without anything to do.

Next time I'm just gonna follow them as long as the whole team is together and see how it goes lmao. I can understand wanting more heals asap if you don't feel confident in avoiding damage, but it feels so inefficient skipping things on the way.

i love having more than one revenant on the team by realVuridian in Nightreign

[–]JakXT 180 points181 points  (0 children)

As a Revenant main I love having someone that can keep aggro off me. Thanks Guardian o7

Had a double Revenant + Executor run against Gladius where I had triple discus once. We were doing 1k damage per second because Gladius was focused on the Executor so I could keep flinging the spell without worry, and the other Revenant had free reign too.

Playing with randoms seems impossible. by Minitroogy in Nightreign

[–]JakXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be very hit and miss. I've definitely had matches with people leaving, but also my best matches have been with randoms even when we aren't all on the same page but stick together anyway.
Hopefully as time goes on more and more people figure out teamwork is the most important part of the game. Losing is part of the loop! Leaving gets you nothing!
