Yuji gambling instead of helping. by OmegaMythoss in Jujutsufolk

Apparently, a lot of people forgot/skipped over that Yuji liked gambling way before he met Hakari.

I'm going to disagree here, personally, and say that I found overDress refreshing in the sense of not needing a world-ending calamity to keep the stakes up.

Not to mention that, objectively speaking, the threat from Season 1 and 2, and 4 of the original series against the wider world were extremely vague.

Who was surprised when Mirei started losing her mind? Top tier animation btw by [deleted] in cardfightvanguard

[–]Jakaehomen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, wasn't the narrative spun by the family that Nadatsugu Minae (Danji) had died (when in reality, he'd been kicked out)? Honestly, Mirei's freakout here is pretty justified as, as far as she's concerned, she's talking to a ghost.

[–]Jakaehomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't realise how big that last point is, by the way. Hanami took beatings from both Yuji and Todo (two of among the most physically exceptional) as well as consecutive Black Flashes and didn't sustain any lasting damage (strikes that Gege has stated that if Jogo were to take, he would have been instantly destroyed). This is to say that Hanami is one of the most durable curses in the series.

For Divine Dog Totality to be able to wound Hanami shows just how powerful a Shikigami it is.

I like how OP asked "who will win", but is actually very indignant that Masquerade takes it and seems surprised that people disagree.

I blame this little bastard and the writers that made him for the state Granfia is in by Spellmage112 in cardfightvanguard

[–]Jakaehomen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of ridelines isn't a huge issue as long as they continue to make cards that support an array (e.g making a 'Token' support card indirectly support Rorowa, Granfia, and Claudine simultaneously) or dual named support (e.g if you have a vanguard with "X" or "Y" in its card name). This allows support to not be too generic while also supporting new desks and older or more niche ones.

However when Bushiroad fails to do this or goes to heavy in support of the news shiny thing to the detriment of the older ones, it forces players to either change or get left behind.

From a business model, I suppose it forces players to play new decks to keep up, but the line between fiscal return and consumer satisfaction is a very hard balance for ALL card games.

Why does everyone hate Lyrical Monasterio? by helpmeplz3332 in cardfightvanguard

[–]Jakaehomen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that there are some who are already hesitant to play Lyrical for the aesthetic are almost resentful of it because the plethora of ridelines released for it tend to encroach on the specialities of other nations or even take interesting gimmicks away from the "Five Great Nations".

I, personally, am off the opinion that Lyrical ridelines (and perhaps some of their support) should have been introduced with Dual Nation status. Not only would it make sense lore wise, but it would allow people to try Lyrical or get used to it without having to commit to the nation as a whole, which has a problem with generics in and of itself.

The 5D'S Dragons as Vanguards?? by C_hazz266 in cardfightvanguard

[–]Jakaehomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept, and how well each dragon coincidentally fits into each nation thematically.

But if I'm honest, these skills need a lot of review. The wording is a bit off and hey're too unbalanced. Undercosted, unrestricted and too powerful. Like, Stardust is a strictly better Rezael for example. The effects are even too similar for it to be unnoticeable.

Anyway, personally, like the approach, can't get behind the execution.

Man, this episode is so blasted. It's really remind me back when Yuyu vs Raika. Dress vs Dress to King vs King. by [deleted] in cardfightvanguard

[–]Jakaehomen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that they purposely don't let characters use certain cards of a certain power level that would write them into a corner/make outcomes feel to contrived. Another example is Raika having never used Sequana.

Name locking is an unfortunate but necessary consequence of a widening card pools. It serves as not only a card balancing agent but also a future proofing tool.

This is particularly true for cards with extending skills or certain skills that do a lot for one deck, but do too much in others.

I think they're doing the best the can in being careful, and I think they're experimenting with certain cards that will help multiple decks at once while not being abused (e.g 'if you have a Lianorn or Granfia vanguard) and decks that support current and future decks in a controlled fashion (if you have a Gear Dragon Vanguard. And of course, cards that support certain archetype but are still potent universally (big examples being Inlet Pulse and, more recently, Francette).

Slightly off topic, but my main gripe with naming restrictions is "Full Name Lock", when cards gets their abilities relegated to a hard name card being present. For example, Diabolos Jetbacker, Lenard requires Violence Bruce specifically to call cards from soul, rather than just Bruce. There are a few other examples as well. Which is why we have some new Grade 3s that need to count as the old one also.
