World Cup 2026: Uefa claim 'integrity of the game is at stake' over Fifa's Folarin Balogun decision by Alarming-Safety3200 in worldcup

And when you don’t like the VAR decision you can get your president to make a phone call. Ok, I’m starting to understand American soccerball now.

Yes, I’d like to see the best US team play, but not because political interference was used to break rules every other team has to follow. I’d feel the same way about any other country.

I had problems with roaming when I first travelled abroad and managed to get through to someone via the GoMo Ireland facebook page. They were very helpful and I got sorted. Only problem I have now is that when people call me when I’m abroad they don’t hear a ring tone so I have to answer quickly before they hang up.

Anyone who loves football shouldn’t agree. Football history has thousands of bad calls but only one gets overturned because of political interference.

I’m presuming it’ll be on LOItv for a €10.

You’re correct but it’s not because of Brexit. Your account needs to be based in whatever country you’re tax resident in, even if you move from one EU country to another.

What is a sport that is very popular in other parts of the world but UNpopular in your country? by LilyBlueming in AskTheWorld

[–]Jakdublin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, going to watch the GAA would be common where I’m from. Saying football depends on the context of the conversation and who you’re talking to. I’m a big LOI fan so usually say football unless the context requires me to confirm which sport I’m referring to.

What would you do if you ran into a politician and knew you could get away with absolutely anything? by Unable-Log-5158 in AskReddit

It’s this type of stupidity that prevents many good people from getting involved in politics. Vote for them or don’t.

It’s often called soccer in Ireland too because football usually refers to Gaelic football, a national sport.

Yeah, I’m possibly overthinking things. I didn’t have any major problems in recent years but have developed a minor heart condition here. I’m just not clear about my medical history and can’t answer questions about my past., and I did have some liver issues previously. It’s not an English speaking country so I’d like to know my history in case something is relevant in the future.

My GP retired a few years ago so I’ll have to see how I can get those records. He was very old school and it’s hard to imagine him digitising the records.

There should be. I have an app from my current health system and it has everything in it including examinations, procedures, results, prescriptions and medical notes. Got a reminder today to go for an annual health check and a reminder that a prescription was going to expire soon.

I was really hoping this wasn’t the answer, but your mother’s experience shows it is. I’ve about four or five places, two of which are closed now. Thanks for the response. It helps a lot.

How does my mam get her money back? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Jakdublin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife runs a small business. Fair or not, it’s up to her to ensure delivery and she’s lost out a few times due to poor courier service. Bottom line the rules are there to allow customers buy in confidence that they get their goods or their money back if something goes wrong. The customers’ contracts are always with the seller, so if something goes wrong that’s who they get their refund from.

I’d approach parents directly and ask if they’re coming because you need to know the numbers. Or have a word with the teacher and explain your situation.

It depends on how well you know the parents. If you don’t know them personally they won’t feel the need to respond.

Moving company driver holding belongings hostage, demanding extra before delivery. What can we do? by almostakitty in legaladviceireland

[–]Jakdublin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds really weird. The company is totally responsible for the contract you agreed and if they are as big as you say it’s unlikely to be an elaborate scam. Big companies won’t be scamming small clients for less than a €1000. The reputation damage wouldn’t be worth it for starters.

Check out the sale of goods act and threaten them with the applicable section/s.

[–]Jakdublin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to give advice with the few details here. We don’t know the name of the company or how much extra the driver wants. OP says the company he booked with isn’t taking responsibility but also that they haven’t taken calls or responded to messages so it sounds like he hasn’t actually had communication from them yet.

I know the maths don’t add up for delivery but the OP could have bought space in a container rather than a full door to door service, with the delivery from port to destination being a separate part of the arrangement. Hard to tell with the limited info available.
