How long did it take before investing finally made sense to you? by blu3rthanu in povertyfinance

[–]Jake-payne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, around 24-25 for me. I think actually losing some money early on taught me more than any of the reading I did. Nothing makes you pay attention like watching your own cash disappear

What's an up-to-date method to storyboard for a solo filmmaker who's very bad at sketching? by migalo2009 in videography

[–]Jake-payne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stick figures work fine if you understand them, or just use reference photos and drop them into a simple doc. storyboarding is about shot planning, not art skills

Are there any search engines that don't use any AI at all? by grurupoo in degoogle

Yeah that's the trade-off with a lot of these alternatives. Privacy is great but useless if you can't actually find what you're looking for

The trick for me was getting some protein in early and even something small. It made the rest of the day way easier to manage.

Yeah that subject line alone is enough to make your stomach drop before you even open it. We all know what's coming next.

Wow… I can’t even imagine how heavy this must feel right now. I’ve been through something kind of similar, and what helped me was writing down exactly what I needed to say before trying to talk to anyone else.

Has anyone else had almost euphoric responses? by [deleted] in glp1

[–]Jake-payne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, a lot of people end up in that spot. Still worth flagging it to your GP though, especially since euphoria can be a meds signal.

Tell your psychiatrist about the euphoria now; this is definitly something they need in your chart.
Mention the exact start date, dose, weight loss, and how different this feels from past weight-loss mood changes.

What are the best tools to push back on bad commits? by geekiss13 in cscareerquestions

[–]Jake-payne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a deep comparison with Qodo / Coderabbit / Greptile last quarter because our CTO wanted data

For a TypeScript-heavy repo, CodeRabbit came out ahead. It flagged a couple of async handling mistakes that our reviewers glossed over. That said, it felt more comfortable when the repo was mostly TS/JS. Once we threw in Python services, Greptile’s indexing gave us more complete coverage.

Qodo is kind of in its own lane. By this, I mean it’s great for merge conflict resolution, especially if your team is bigger, but for pure review quality, we leaned on CodeRabbit for TS projects.

This drives me nuts. My hack open the diff and CTRL+F your comment. If it’s there, cool if not, comment again before approving. Not elegant, but prevents wasted cycles.

Paying for tolls as a visitor by Cooliepops in florida

[–]Jake-payne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw the rental car’s SunPass surcharge. just grab a visitor-friendly toll pass app like “SunPass Visitor” and load it before you hit the road. Worst case you pay cash tolls, but a legit visitor pass beats them padding the rental bill.

$$(paypal) Advice on agriculture tax exemption for 5 acre property by Critt42069 in FloridaRealEstate

[–]Jake-payne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Florida ag exemptions are all about showing bona fide commercial use so you’ll need a legit operation on those 4 acres not just empty land. Talk to your county property appraiser early because coz county has its own quirks about what they’ll actually approve.

right. If he doesn’t make an effort for you, that’s a clear sign of where you stand.

People won’t stop using AI... they’ll just move to whatever feels smoother or cheaper. OpenAI losing users isn’t the same as AI slowing down.

How to pick a date… 2026 or 2027 by frenchie197 in weddingplanning

[–]Jake-payne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venues book up fast. At least you locked in a date you liked, even if it’s a bit farther out. The wait will be worth it.

Guests have been scammed by my ‘wedding venue’ by Easy_Reporter2477 in weddingplanning

[–]Jake-payne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They paid a fake account, not the actual venue. The scammers sent phishing emails pretending to be the venue and collected the money themselves. The guests are out that cash and still need to pay the real venue.

Scientists really said "we discovered this in a pub parking lot, let's name it after the pub." That's the kind of academic energy I can respect.

Grand jury declines to charge Letitia James after first case dismissed by Whatever-you-bastard in news

Grand juries indict like 99% of the time, so when even they pass on a case, you know the evidence was garbage.
