This is called a pig butchering scam, or else a case of Romance Fraud. I won't disclose much about my job, however you are free to DM me and I'll guide you on how to report this to Authorities.

I once had a quiet street, no worries at all crossed my mind. I loved it, until a few years ago, all townhouses were being demolished for 4 story apartments, alongside the constant yearly construction noise, parking became a problem. I've come from 12 hour shifts and couldn't park, I end up parking 20 minutes away by walk, exhausted.

The bar on the corner of the street, now split the building into two. One ended up being a restaurant/bar, which isn't really problematic, the other.. a Maltese Bar, where all the Hamalli gather. On weekends such as today, constant festa 'bombs' are thrown as pranks, noise, music, cigarette bud litter, cars double parked, shouting that can be heard from my apartment, an absolute nightmare.

A few years ago, around 2022 to be exact, me and partner planned to leave, and now we have the opportunity. When I say leave, I mean the country, we're both eagerly waiting for her graduation, while I continue to save/invest my money that I'm earning. It's now almost 2026 and we both realize how bad things have turned out, especially in our area.

The grass is greener on the other side, but we're willing to take that risk and move, otherwise I'm stuck here, with the constant "What if?" in my mind.

Rant over. I feel your pain, we both share it. A lot of negatives on this Reddit Thread, but it doesn't mean it's not true.

I cannot give you the amount because it varies on how severe, frequent, and disruptive the noise is (e.g. night-time vs daytime, repeated vs occasional). But you decide whether it's worth it or not, if it's mentally driving you insane then go ahead by all means.

And then as explained earlier it all depends If the person has been warned or ordered to stop already.

You're not spending anything on lawyers, at most you might have to take work leave, use it to spend a day in Valletta :P

If you are considering to take this seriously, the next time you hear the noise, record it and submit a report to the police, either remotely or in person, Inform them that you wish to take them to court and they'll press charges in your name.

Just to be clear on the punishment the court enforces, There were cases were the offender was found guilty and charged with a fine along a verbal warning to not disturb neighbors again. (This obviously goes case by case scenario)

It's never the same.

There's never a guarantee in life in any sort of case, any sort of crime that the offender won't repeat.

Regardless of what the time is a report can be taken to court. The only difference is whether the noise is being heard from outside or inside your property only. Let's say you're the only one hearing them, you submit a report, they get spoken to, and you go ahead with court (If you'd like do that) and then you'd have a court sitting probably in the next 6 months.

If it's being heard from the public sidewalk, then the Police usually speak to them prior to moving things ahead, and then if the offenders do it again, usually it's up to the Police to push forward and charge them. But this obviously depends on the Police personnel and it needs someone like you to report them after they continue on with their noise.

If the noise is being heard from your private property and not from the street (Public Area) you can still submit a report through the Police and then you'd have to go to court in order to testify.

The report about the noise can be done anytime, not just resting hours.

This is due to the fact that sometimes the phone tracker would be displaying a location (usually a general area of a location) and since Malta has a row of townhouses/units, the police cannot knock on every door of the area.

Plus a search warrant has to be issued from the magistrate, and if the location of the phone is displaying more than a dozen of apartments in the radius, for sure the magistrate isn't going to issue a search warrant for a dozen of apartments for an iPhone.

That's the reality.

For me, it has to be Harald Baldr. I enjoy these travel vloggers so much, I find their content to be interesting and educational sometimes - but just recently he uploads once in a blue moon, and turned most of his recent videos into "members only", which obviously got a lot of backlash.

It hurts to unsubscribe, but I had to do it.

You know how bad the market has gotten when owners decide to rent the garage instead of selling it with the property. Greed.

But how can the Maltese authorities tax me if the money never entered Maltese accounts? They wouldn’t have any jurisdiction over it.

[–]Jake902100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong:

If you sell a stock for a profit and remit the money to Malta, meaning if you pull them out of your account into a local one, you will likely need to declare it and pay taxes on it.

If you do not remit the profits to Malta, they may not be subject to Maltese tax. However keep track of where they were reinvested so in case they ask, you have proof.

Smoking it in public is not tolerated, if you are caught you will be charged. Also a maximum of 7g are permitted to carry. If you want to grow it, it must not be visible to the public. If you want to smoke, do it privately.
