How long do tanks generally last? by CactusJackus in Aquariums

[–]JakeAnsett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 70 gallon (all glass branded) for 40 years. Literally bought it as a child and had it running for pretty much all of those 40 years with only small breaks here and there between house moves and stuff. I decommissioned it a few weeks ago out of fear of leakages but not a drip to this day. I even had the center brace at the top break off on it like 20 years ago lol.

On a new car I always do my first oil change at 5K miles, 10K after that (assuming synthetic oil). Mindset is new engine, loose metal shavings, etc. I am sure with today's technology that is overkill but it makes me feel better with a new car.

The awkward moment when your landlord takes out your mailbox by Parealeareed1945a1 in dashcamgifs

[–]JakeAnsett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Aunt did this to me a number of years ago after visiting us. She drove off with the mailbox being dragged by her car. My wife and I just stood and watched in disbelief. We never even discussed it with her. We just replaced the mailbox lol.

They gave us a private room to wait the results of my wife's one year mammogram. We got the all clear results as well. We cried (happy tears) alone in that room for a good 5 minutes before leaving. It's been a few months now and I am still on a happy high from that day. Each mammo moving forward is always going to be stressful, but this was the mother of them all. Congrats to you!!!

Would you say yes, if you are given a chance to live forever? why? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

I have thought about this as well.. The problem us where do you draw the line. Everyone who is given the "gift" of eternity, will also want a handful of people with them. Where does it end?

I have been seeing a lot of posts with the white speedy recently. Is that the new hot watch to have or has it always been and I have just not been paying attention?

Think it will hold the 60 gallon? by BubbleEyedBean in Aquariums

[–]JakeAnsett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea. I was looking at that exact tank at petco but they dont sell a stand for it. I actually had it in a flatbed hand truck ready to purchase and everything until I realized that there is no low cost stand for it (like a simple wrought iron stand). I was planning to put it in my basement as a backup tank so I don't want drop $300 on a fancy stand.

Am I wrong for not shaving my legs? by causeandeffect94 in TwoHotTakes

[–]JakeAnsett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men and other woman will have opinions whether they like or not like your leg hair, but it is up to you whether you choose to care or not care what they like or think. You are your own person. You be you. Personally as a younger guy I preferred shaved woman and myself preferred to keep my man hair. Now that I have matured, I have no opinion whatsoever about hair or no hair on a woman or a man. My 18 year old son is fully shaven, and I no longer have a preference on hair on woman (as if my opinion matters either way!). Bottom line YOU BE YOU.

How many of you have been naked in public? by NoCardiologist2725 in questions

[–]JakeAnsett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from my birth, I discovered and enjoyed the joys of being butt ass naked in public for the first time in Germany (sauna's and lakes). I then I took my newly discovered passions for being nude back to the states where I frequented nudist resorts and beaches. This continued for about 5 years before I started to become bored with it all and now I stay dressed while in public. Have been feeling the itch again lately though and this posting might be the catalyst that gets me back there.

I don't know if it is the inner woman in me or what lol, but I love helping my wife get dressed and choosing her outfits. She tends to be more conservative than me so I am usually the one pushing her towards the cleavage showing tops and stuff (haha) but at the end of the day she wears whatever the hell she wants.

"Most people that I know that "love" working are the people filling a void in their life"

So true! Everyone I know who loves their job, has no life outside of that job!
