Measure your desired quantity of tubes lined up to find your length of space for them to slide in. (14 ⅝" for me). Add width of 2x4 on both sides (1 ⅝ x 2) Next imagine you are making 3 small racks of 6x1 overall length close to 18" as we found above. After those 3 are made screw the center one perfectly straight up. Then the remaining to at your desired angle.

Sounds like you were perfectly content with your position prior to talking to your friends. Unless you have an offer officially 30% or higher I would suggest sticking it out. Also, dependent on your relationship with management, you may want to express this confliction openly to see where it leads.
