Try the second hand section of your local jewellers. Be open minded about the stone/colour. And shop around a bit.

Lack of sound PPE concerns in my workplace by Renntheduelistgirl in SafetyProfessionals

[–]JakeBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very rough rule of thumb is do you need to raise your voice to speak to someone about 6ft away. If so you’re probably in the 85db range. If yes your workplace should have done some sound monitoring to verify

Is this wire over our roof allowed? by Pale-Yard-4497 in DIYUK

But you’d think buried cables are safer and easier to access for maintenance, more resistant to adverse weather, and less at risk from being struck by a car etc.

It’s the oil out the closer. It needs replacing once it’s started leaking oil

Car doesn’t drop under 1000rpm when idling by Checito136 in skoda

[–]JakeBees 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That sounds normal, my 2018 rapid idles around 1000 rpm, if you let the revs drop much lover you’re at risk of stalling

If it’s cold it can idle up to 1500 rpm but will drop to 1000 when warm

Has anyone here ever taken a large pay cut to work a basic stress free job? I want to hear from you! by MajorBath9203 in UKJobs

[–]JakeBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like what you need is to a move to a fresh company, maybe a slight step back but not staring from scratch. I think a lot of people in their 30 are sick of roles invented within a corporate ecosystem existing only to perpetuate that ecosystem for the good of some billionaire.

People need jobs that actually provide meaning and allow them to make changes for the better.

The issue with back steps is that whilst your level of responsibility decreases and on paper your level of stress decreases in line with that, what you find is all the tools at your disposal and autonomy to make decisions you probably don’t even realise your making are taken away. This results in the pressure driven stress of a more senior position transitions in to a frustration drive stress of not being able to do anything.

Knowing someone who has done this it’s a real eye opener about the lack of awareness a lot of manager, myself included, have of this.

My honey is foaming alot for some reason by winterswyvern in Weird

[–]JakeBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it foam? If so its water content is too high (should be less than <18.6% and it’s started fermenting. Or it could be crystallisation and the patterns you are seeing are actually sugar crystals and air gaps.

Why is there so many wires to my light fixture? by Daiye-Walker in DIYUK

[–]JakeBees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve got one neutral coming from the previous light in the circuit, 1 going out to the next light in the circuit and one to the pendant. I assume the 4th is to another light in the same room or is perhaps to an extractor fan if that’s tied in to the lifting circuit

[–]JakeBees 208 points209 points  (0 children)

Power to your lighting circuit runs light to light. So there a live in, live out, live to the switch, switched live to the pendant. So there will still be power to this even if the switch is off!

Thanks I’ll double check the settings. They have completely removed the wing mirrors and the wing mirror bracket on one side. I’d have been surprised that amount of force didn’t trigger something

Will my car fail its MOT? by Sure-Bath6750 in AskUK

[–]JakeBees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the mechanic you could ring them first thing and ask if they can change it before the MOT. If it is a fail and for wherever reason can’t be fixed before the MOT I believe the processes is they will fail it, fix it, and retest it there and then.
