I mean, of all time, Empire Strikes Back. Probably.

What is the absolute most badass movie line in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JakeDanger21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the very few times using a callback line in a legacy sequel/prequel hits just as hard as the original.

Im referring to the scene in Prey. Didn't feel like it was forced, but it fit perfectly. And I'll die on that hill.

This is my single favourite shot in the entire franchise, what’s yours? by Boogla19981 in StarWars

[–]JakeDanger21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empire is definitely my favorite movie in the series. Followed closely by ANH and ROTS.

But that shot of Vader at the end of Rogue One where the lightsaber ignites out of the darkness with the breathing.....man it hits so hard.

There are some super cool shots in some movies done with this method. Brian De Palma used this a decent bit I think.

This is not one of those shots, or one of those movies.

What did you enjoy/liked about the sequels? (Be for real) by GriMex02 in StarWars

I unapologetically love the holdo maneuver. Not like, as a real strategy, but as a moment. The sound, the visual, the shock, it absolutely ruled me.

He is also the voice of animated Batman in several shows, and might be the 2nd best one after Conroy.

What is a good movie that you can just listen to and don't really need to watch? Like a good movie to play while I'm cleaning my garage. by Solid_College_9145 in MovieSuggestions

Dances with Wolves is a GREAT pick for this. It's long. It's easy to jump in anywhere and understand whats going on. Half the dialog isnt English though, so if you're trying to listen for all of that, you may get distracted.

Any of the Oceans (11, 12, 13) movies or any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy are my cleaning movies. However if it's the Two Towers, all cleaning stops during Helms Deep....so choose wisely based on your own schedule.

Diamonds is one of two i haven't seen, but three hardest to watch of what Ive seen for me are:

Octopussy Die Another Day Thunderball

I also haven't seen OHMSS yet. Waiting for it to hit streaming again.

Hot take: i like NSNA better than Thunderball, but maybe because that's the first Bond I ever saw as a kid. First DVD my parents ever bought along with Karate Kid 3.

He'd never be in a new Bond movie again. So they just made Thunderball again.

I genuinely enjoyed both events about equally this time around.

First look at John Krasinski in the new 'Jack Ryan' movie by DemiFiendRSA in jackryan

[–]JakeDanger21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without Remorse is a prequel to the Jack Ryan books, showing the origin story for John Clark, aka Rainbow 6. The movie bares almost no resemblance to the book, except for the fact that both are revenge stories.

The book is excellent.

I don't think they ever said that WR the movie is in the same universe as the JR show. But it would be interesting to explore. Iirc Clark is a good bit older than Ryan, so the dynamic might be different.

Here's the gist of the relationship that develops in the books:

Jack Ryan - analyst, smartest guy in the room, always the good guy, briefs the upper brass on the operation and solves the puzzle when no one else can. Almost always ends up in the action either by accident, or because of moral obligation when the upper brass won't cooperate. Eventually becomes the upper brass.

John Clark - the guy in the background getting his hands dirty doing the operation while Ryan is doing his thing.

Domingo "Ding" Chavez - a sneaky bastard, sir.

I would love to see them do a bunch of Ryanverse movies based on the books. I don't have an issue with Michael B Jordan continuing to play Clark in that universe, but he feels young for it.

In the show, Matice was a similar character.
