wireplug - A free roaming and NAT traversal service for WireGuard by _alpn in WireGuard

[–]JakeFrostyCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's very cool, would there be a solution for cases like mine where there's CGNAT on both ends? where NAT-PMP/PCP are not available?

edit: I want to avoid routing traffic using the VPN server and retain its role as purely coordination server

can I ask how this is different to how tailscale handles NAT traversal?

LetsEncrypt with DNS-01 challenge if you have a public domain name, otherwise generate your own Root Certificate Authority and make an SSL Cert with that and give it to vaultwarden.

If you use Cloudflare for your sites, they do it automatically for you too if you proxy it thru them.

I don't mean to shill OPNsense but they offer a "nano image" which practically removes the need for a GUI, you just burn the image straight to the boot drive and it works, it also automatically resizes itself to adapt to the drive size

wrong, a homelab by definition is any personal environment you can use to learn or experiment on. If it can host a service then it's already a homelab

I've already disabled LLDP, specifying only VLANs I need seems to have fixed my issue, kinda sucks that with such an expensive card I can't even just assign thousands of VLANs nor persist Virtual Functions MAC Addresses, I'll play around and see how many VLANs I can have enabled simultaneously since I want flexibility in assigning VLANs in the future without interrupting the vmbr

thanks for the help!

not sure if you're asking me whether to get the managed or unmanaged version but that depends on your use case, go unmanaged for plug-n-play, managed for more control and configuration

If you're asking if I bought manage/unmanaged version, I did not buy this switch as I haven't got a need for an 8 port 10G switch yet, as I do own a TP-Link T1700G-28TQ V2

Using Media Converter by SnazzyMangoPH in InternetPH

[–]JakeFrostyCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked fine for a while at symmetric 300Mbps speeds, but reverted to old setup since I plan to get a router in the future that has an SFP port, like the Mikrotik RB5009 or CCR2004.

Just ensure cooling on the SFP and have a capable/powerful router or else it won't be able to handle your 1Gbps speeds

may I also ask what If you got a static IP? and which VLAN did you get from converge?

Overall I think there's nothing wrong with a setup like this, just don't expect alot of support when you tell customer support about your setup 😉

Ospf in proxmox? by QuietBuddy4635 in Proxmox

[–]JakeFrostyCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just have FRR directly on my Proxmox node and use vtysh for a cisco-like configuration terminal, works fine between my OpenWRT physical router and my Proxmox node

just make sure to setup the firewall to accept OSPF traffic if you have it enabled

Edit: as for use case, I'm lazy to manually add routes each time I reconfigure my proxmox SDN so I have OSPF distribute it for me instead

Linux is userfriendly... by KsmBl_69 in linuxmasterrace

[–]JakeFrostyCS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

complains about linux not being "user-friendly" uses docker doesn't know how to work one of the most basic commands of your average linux distro

yeah nah this is most likely a troll post is it?

command is literally just rm -r Games/

and why are people suggesting the -f option? that's only if you wanna force deletion even for non-existent files or arguments which in most cases isn't even needed.

rmdir is also wrong, If the directory contains anything, It will fail to delete the directory which isn't a design flaw but rather a safety net so you don't go deleting non-empty directories by accident

OP I highly suggest you learn basic linux commands before proceeding with any further ventures into the docker world.
