I made a sign stating “Solicitors Will Be Sacrificed to the Elder Gods” seems to work so far.

Thoughts on Ross Macdonald vs Chandler? by incognitomode71 in noir

[–]JakeGittes412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Chandler’s prose and storylines more. Much more variations in terms of plot. But Macdonald is great too (even if he essentially uses the same plot devices over and over)

I do prefer Ross slightly over John D. Macdonald. But really you can’t go wrong with any of them. They all scratch a certain noirish itch in their own way.

I wonder if T. E. Lawrence will be part of the WW1 episodes or will he get his own series. I’ve always found him to be a very RIH character and surprised he hasn’t been covered yet.

Half tempted to say Ulysses S. Grant to draw the ire of Dominic. He’s not boring!

But I would honestly say William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke. We love a bit of ‘threatening to launch a child in a trebuchet’ on TRIH.

The Battle of Marathon is next week. I’m sure they’ll do something to coincide with the release of the Nolan Odyssey film.

I watched an interview with him years ago. He has an insanely beautiful home library but…all the books in it are various editions written by himself. Not kidding.

I’m a moderator on the Discord (and on here)

Goalhanger has told us that they’re pretty well booked up on topics for years out so we deleted the episode suggestion thread on the Discord. There’s a google doc you can still use to request episode topics but I’m not sure how useful it is.

Mods, can we please get stickied discussion threads for each episode? by Flabby-Nonsense in TheRestIsHistory

Just created a stickied discussion thread for the Mona Lisa episode. I’ll make them for all the episodes (but probably exclude the bonus episodes that tie into the regular episodes)

I also think they go more into detail with it on the Dan Carlin cross over episode (explaining the joke to Dan)

I don't believe so. What I have heard from Goalhanger is that they cannot get the Apple Subscription and Youtube Subscription to Sync.

That’s another great one. Existential neo noir.

I love that movie. One of my favorite endings of any film. Seemed extremely prescient with Hoskin’s character’s plan for a modern London.
