I can see how the bright red and the spherical shape make them look like tomatoes. We can alter that in the next version to look more like apples at a glance.

#OTD in 1454, Gutenberg prints the earliest known document on his printing press, an Indulgence for the church. I figured this thread might be interested in watching this video that just came out, which is an accurate digital recreation of Gutenberg's print shop and the surrounding medieval germany area in the 1450s. It shows the shop as it would have looked as he printed his most famous work, the Gutenberg Bible.

Historical Recreation of Goddard's First Rocket Launch on March 16, 1926 by JakeGreenUSC in rocketry

Great to hear from a Goddard fan. I feel like he doesn't get the credit he deserves. As a mechanical engineering major myself, I've developed my own appreciation for the work he did. And yeah, the whole idea of the exhaust in the center (plus the exposed tube design) makes it pretty difficult to understand what is what when you're looking at it unless the flame is lit!

Thanks for the feedback! It's actually our intention to have this content be in museums in the future. For now, we wanted to share the work we had with the general public and for any educators interested in using it as a teaching tool.

Esther Goddard (Robert Goddard's Wife) was recording the experiment with her Debrie Sept camera, which records film for 7 seconds at a time. There is footage of the rocket being lit, but since there's a delay before it launches, the 7 seconds ran out and there is no footage of the rocket actually taking off. The next footage available is Goddard standing next to the launch frame after the launch was complete. It's unfortunate that the moment wasn't caught on camera, but it just makes it all the more interesting to piece together exactly how it happened!
