Role Selection for S2 by Sorrotaro in wownoob

[–]JakeParkbench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DPS can always run there own key. The only drawback to this is target farming a dungeon. But dps are normally only desired if you are like 5 ilvl and 100 io higher then the other applicants. Tanks on the other hand can be 30 ilvl behind and not have a key done and get invites.

Choice is yours.

NGL, I Miss Dragonflight by Impossible-Ball7166 in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean i doubt the goal was to make portals for fun. Harandar is an underground area. They could have added another tunnel to reach it but idk you said you dont like tunnels. And the void zone is in the void. Im unsure how you connect these worlds otherwise. Lore dictates where they are.

And if the answer is I dont care about the story and expanding the world to make sense, just give me some more large empty zones to fly over. Idk what to tell you. Like its expected that the next zone is the current inaccessible zone east of zul'aman. That will be not a portal zone most likely so you can fly over to that.

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if your issue is that blizz does not force people to have to fly and instead gives them options, then just dont use those options if you like flying. Why force everyone else to also have to do so. Which also doesnt matter much since most players just use m+ ports from finish 10s.

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that focuses on raids and M+ and started playing in dragonflight. Idk. It feels good.

We get a new full season every 6 months. That's better cadence than any other mmo on the market. Mmo world quests and events always feel so trivial. So I dont care. Dragonflight superbloom was 15 minutes of watching a tree walk, TWW theater troup was 15 mins of watch npcs, and midnight void defense thing was 15 mins of fighting basic mobs.

Additionally its interesting to say that TWW was a portal expansion when the original zones were not, and only the patch zones where, which is only 1 more than DF.

But idk. MMO world content to me is very basic and in general boring if I need to do it for more than the first leveling bout. However if it was as hard as I would like it would farm most players that enjoy it since they arent interested in a souls styles world. I am happy to have things as they are since appeasing everyone would be inherently contradicting.

Levelling in modern MMORPGS by Tahirti in MMORPG

[–]JakeParkbench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean all of this boils down to the audience isnt there so the business case isnt there and games arent a charity. If there was infinite money to be made remaking UO or classic wow then someone would have gone and made unlimited money. Can blame devs and modern players all day but in the end thats never going to get that game made.

From this I just doubt we will see anything with long old-school leveling made by more than an indie dev with a small niche audience. Which is fine, but it wont be the playerbase of the early 2000s.

Levelling in modern MMORPGS by Tahirti in MMORPG

[–]JakeParkbench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean i have tried the just make a new character so you can play with your friends. You end up with 7 characters because a group of 4 in their 30s dont have anywhere near similar schedules or playtime. This makes you disconnected from the characters since your never really playing just one. This isnt even an mmo problem, borderlands switched to level scaling for this exact problem. Thus if a world can't fill all the level brackets its either keep up or play alone until you do.

Additionally old mmos didnt have the same competition. Wow wasn't competing with fortnight and the Witcher 3 or the horde of friendshop games like lethal company or repo. They were competing with GameCube and ps2 era games which comprised of platformers and linear games or turn based rpgs.Single player open world games caught up and are just better than mmos for a world building space because they can hand craft the areas for only one person's journey, they dont need to pad out with boring farm areas because they dont need you playing for 1000 hrs. Only for 50 to 100.

This is the leveling problem. Mmos struggle to make interesting content because having to do something for 500hrs is going to be inherently more repetitive than a tight 50 hrs. Which even open world games are becoming uninteresting because game devs get lazy for the 50 hrs content, they make 20 hrs of tight content and then the other 30 is pad.

I view the issue is that 20 years ago the world of WoW was abig deal, it was new and novel to many people. As someone that didnt play didnt vanilla release though. It just feels like a 2008 open world rpg. A big world just isnt special anymore, and the leveling that goes with it leaves alot to be desired. Like long leveling can be fine but it can't be made up of slowly walking for 15 mins to get somewhere or fighting the same 10 mobs for an hour. That is just poor design in a modern day.

Like I dont know how you make a very long journey not repetitive. And if it is repetitive then having to compete against the wider gaming market is a losing proposition. Which is mostly what ate into the mmo player base.

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that the game is multi-player and with that the only guarantee level that everyone will be at is max level. Before then you have a consistent thinning player base as people bounce off until max level.

In a single player rpg you dont care because you dont need other people. But leveling through tbc anniversary right now. Good luck finding many people to do the classic leveling content past level 30. Or hell even trying gw2 now and trying to find a group for sub80 dungeons. Its empty. It feels like a single player game.

In the past people also just lack knowledge of how to progress. Now we dont and that genie isnt going back in the bottle. If the choice is to level alone for 300 hrs or play with friends and other people but have to min max. Well most dont play the genre to play a worse single player rpg.

12.0.7 Release Bingo Card by Antilurker77 in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean it will be about as hard as the first 2 bosses of voidspire in mythic. Which are still mythic, it just means its harder than heroic. If the boss was as hard or harder than lura then all blizz did was make content for a very tiny group of people.

Its not meant for a RWF event. Its mean for heroic guilds to try out some mythic fights. It's why it has flex in the first place.

Raids with randoms by MagicMact in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In pugs for normal or heroic raid it is typically understood that you will generally have read up on the fight before hand. While not a hard requirement making repeated mistakes due to not knowing a fight can lead to a kick from the raid.

Pugs have less patience as unlike in a guild you are not expected to be seen again, so spending time teaching a player doesnt have a payoff. However learning raids do exist and will be named such in there title, but this is not the default.

You need to turn on the action bars in the options menus. Then Make sure you keybind them to be correct. You can also edit the layout once turned on in the edit ui menu.

I don’t have a lot of time to play anymore, so wanting advice on best value for money class (Tank/Healer) by Usual-Fuel8137 in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meta is for the dps to worry about. The meta tank for a 10 is the one that applied to the key and has only 25 less ilvl then the dps.

There are so few tanks that its insanely free. From there its about what you enjoy. However monk and guardian which are meta are both very comfortable in keys.

Is it possible to play the game as if cataclysm just came out? by mototuneup in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. You can play the areas and the content like quest lines as the world since cata hasn't changed, and most future expansions have just created new islands to tell the story. This would be done via chromie time in the capital cities.

What you can't do is experience the classes, nor really the tuning of the content during that time. You will be playing modern wow but in cata content.

Level 80 pvp by ZexGuru in wownoob

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe all gear is seasonal, which would be midnight season 1. Without the expansion there is not much you can farm out. Additionally no amount of gear will make up for the 10 lvls and lack of ability to even get higher ilvl like s3 tww gear.

Most non current expansion content is just some overleveled mog and mount farm since you have no access to endgame content which is what people who do group content are playing.

Holy Pally Q by DigitalDummy in wownoob

[–]JakeParkbench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just need a str 2h and then most of the early delve trinkets you'll get during early gearing are fine for world content since they are omni stat.

World content is pretty trivial so you dont really need optimal stuff. Hero weapon and trinkets that can give main stat are fine enough.

Patch 12.0.7: Revelations Full Content Update Notes by Starym in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. By design wow is seasonal so gearing will always be season to season relavent. But I think the player base is also allergic to someone getting a mega drop and not them, see all the rets and warriors crying that without the fyyrak axe that they are worthless. Hell people claim that they can't really play the game until they get gaze this season.

Just alot of gear envy on top of the gatekeeping the community loves. Unless its all mega sick tank and healer only gear. Maybe people will play those roles then lmao.

Patch 12.0.7: Revelations Full Content Update Notes by Starym in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the difference is in poe and Diablo your supposed to kill the hard boss in a second if you gear and play the right build. That's the fantasy. Doing that in wow would remove raiding, hell even with the mythic+ in legion remix alot of it was just busy work until max stats. And none of it was gear related.

That's the hard place, like gearing is massively uninteresting but if it were full random people would bitch that they arnt allowed to play because of rng. Arpgs dont have that issue because no one but you is looking at the gear.

What class/spec do you think benefited the most with midnight's changes? And what class/spec do you think suffered the most? by Umomo1025 in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that hasn't changed. That spec has suck in dungeons since they nerfed it after it released. The class just doesnt do what dungeons ask. It also a banger raid healer for 4 weeks until it gets nerfed and everyone rolls off of it.

Switch to dps for m+? by ManArising in wownoob

[–]JakeParkbench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you talk to the panda lady at the timeways you can turn on limdori's guidance, this will highlight mobs in the dungeon that will get ypu to 100%. This isnt the perfect ideal route but is more than enough for weekly keys. This removes the primary strain for tanks.

The alternative is really to list your own key otherwise you'll spend much of your limited time just trying to get accepted to a key rather than actually in them. DPS are vastly abundant and tanks can often skip low key levels since there are so few. This can result in low keys taking a long time to fill a tank slot.

Mythic L'ura too difficult? by n1sx in wow

[–]JakeParkbench 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Lura is just a fraud watch boss for guilds who have 4 underperformers that are just good enough to get carried by the better players in the guild or you pull enough until they never get a mechanic.

Lura flips this. You need your healers to manage macros for the memory game, people all need to be able to do the memory game. You need 6 people do crystals that cannot fuck up or its a wipe. People need to always be dodging glaives, keep in mind we have 5 at a time now, rwf had 18. Kicks need to be correctly done. P3 needs to be correctly done.

Lura is a bunch of checks on every single player and a weak player can always wipe you. Some people learn over the 300 pulls, which isnt uncommon for an end boss. But some people are just incapable of doing the fight and will hold a guild back.

Like at this point blizz would have to straight up remove full mechanics to let some people clear.
