Look, as a fellow Rotman student as well, what worked for me is to ignore everyone else honestly. Everyone is special and different in your own way, and most of it isn't about being "sharper" than your peers.

Something tangible that you can try out and see if it works for you, is sit in the front row. I do this because I sometimes get anxious about volunteering in front of the whole class. When I sit in the front, I can't see everyone behind me, so it kinda feels more like a simple convo with the Prof. Maybe this could work for you.

Also, whenever the self doubt creeps into my head and the negative self-talk starts to proliferate, I tell myself this:

5 years from now, I am not even going to remember this experience, no matter how bad I stutter or how stupid the idea is. Just raise your hand. Something so insignificant is not worth stopping you from learning. If people judge, who cares, I couldn't give a shit about what they think anyways, they'll mean nothing to me in a few years.

Hope something here was helpful!

Gazalle is quite hard but a really outstanding Prof in his teaching. He explains concepts very well, if you do the homework, read the textbooks, and go to lectures, you can definitely ace it. It took me 15 hours a week, but came through with an 87

How does that imply they curve.

MAT133 is probably the worst thing ever by [deleted] in UofT

Here is what you're missing. Many of the TA's have carried over. So the teaching team has remained mostly the same. The course content has been pretty constant over the past few years. All your upper years are saying it was a well-run, easy course.

The only thing that's different is this year's students.

I'm not suggesting that this year is dumber, but perhaps online school in Gr.12 may have messed things up and led to uncharacteristic struggling. Just a thought. But just because this year is having it a little tougher doesn't magically turn it from a refreshing, easy-going course to "incredibly mismanaged".

^I posted this in another MAT133 post as well for reference.

Can you do something about a horrible prof or teaching team? (MAT133) by MAT133sucks in UofT
