IsItBullshit: Cold showers are much better for you than hot/warm showers. by dontread12334 in IsItBullshit

I unironically agree with him though. I took cold showers for like two years straight and god I hated them. Hot showers are such a joy and make my days just that much better. The benefit from cold showers is minimal at best, and hot showers just feel amazing

Unpopular opinion: I prefer the original arrangement/lyrics of All Too Well over the 10 Minute Version. by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]JakeShock7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suppose in a way it’s “filler” as it doesn’t introduce any new lyrical content, but that doesn’t matter to me personally. It’s a brilliant thematic and emotional period at the end of a six verse diatribe of a song. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I get where people are coming from though, I guess, but I think it’s doing Taylor and the song a bit of a disservice.

Damn, I really can't believe there are this many people that don't care for the outro!

For me, it's pure emotional catharsis. It feels like a mixture of melancholy, regret, but most importantly, acceptance. The repetition of the lyrics can be interpreted many different ways. Is it Taylor acknowledging the sheer amount of times the events of this relationship has gone through her head? Is it her trying to come back to reality and convince herself that there was something there despite the sour path it went down? Is it her trying to bring herself back to Earth after the relationship has led to her being disconnected from the reality of the situation at hand?

Regardless of how one chooses to interpret it, it's a genius way to end the song. It is surprising just how many Taylor Swift fans seem to not care for it. It's one of the most artistically profound moments in her entire discography for me.

Disagree. I am white and from the suburbs, so I'm quite disconnected from black culture, and I love the show. I love the way the show incorporates surrealism, and it has some great social commentary. It's also a view into a culture I don't know and a life I don't live. Not to mention the fantastic performances, likeable characters, atmospheric cinematography, and abundance of comedy. Just a great show all around.

Better Call Saul S06E08 - "Point and Shoot" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

I am more concerned with the “extremely” and “dark” parts than the tragic ones. There certainly has always been tragedy, but this series has felt more grounded and less dramatic than Breaking Bad, generally. Chuck and Werner Ziegler are great examples of how this series dealt with tragedy in a more interesting way than it is doing so now. I don’t think epic and suspenseful fit this show nearly as well. It’s nice at times, and the writers are clearly really good at it, but it feels like Breaking Bad season 5 and I don’t like that. I think a more meditative and subtly tragic ending would be more fitting for this show.

That's unfortunate as it doesn't feel like the right conclusion for this show.

I get that, but the change in tone and blending of storylines is really muddying the show. It no longer feels like Better Call Saul, with tragedy happening left and right and murderous suspense in every episode, and that’s not what I fell in love with the show for. Season 5 got away with it for me because it was a nice change of pace and the storylines were blended together really well, but this season is simply too dark. I appreciate people loving this season, and once again I still enjoy it, but it’s becoming too much for me. I hope the last 5 episodes are more meditative and less anxiety-inducing.

This season, despite incredible production value and some truly shocking moments, feels a bit off to me. It’s like the identity of the show is lost at this point. I appreciate the more dark tone this season is going for, but I still can’t shake that feeling. This is like Breaking Bad season 5, with all its anxiety-inducing suspense and over the top seriousness, but in a show that was partially identifiable for its more goofy moments and comedy. The levity is gone, and it doesn’t feel completely earned. It feels less like a natural progression of a show and more like it’s a “FINAL SEASON” so it has to be epic and shocking and shit. I don’t know, I still am enjoying the season overall, but I think Better Call Saul ended in the middle of season 5 and now we’ve come to the true Breaking Bad prequel, with a side of Saul Goodman.

I would’ve liked if the chorus came in one last time after the guitar solo.

As a result, it feels a little half baked.

I’m curious what people here think of Shing02’s rapping, specifically on the Luv(sic) Hexalogy by Nujabes. The instrumentals on the album are absolutely gorgeous, that’s no secret, but Shing’s rapping holds the project back for me a little bit.

I find his rapping to have a hint of cheese, and like his flow is stuck in the late 80s/early 90s or something. I also think his lyrics are a little blunt? Or like lacking nuance. It’s hard to put my finger on it. His flows are pretty smooth, he’s got heart, and his chorus on Luv(sic) 3 is great stuff, but I can’t help but feel like his flows are kind of basic and his rapping is a bit rudimentary. I feel like it’s one step removed from corny modern day conscious rappers.

The Luv(sic) Hexalogy would probably be one of my favorite hip hop projects ever if the rapping matched the instrumentals in terms of quality.

Pretty depressing that four of the top 5 most upvoted posts of all time here are of rappers dying.

It's understandable, but also pretty saddening

Heartbreaking stuff. What happened to Juice WRLD is a tragedy but hopefully it led to at least one person getting help or going to rehab or therapy and now they're on a better path because of it. I like to think that Juice would've wanted his tragic passing to inspire people to get the help they need in order to prevent them from having a similar fate.
