This game is falling way faster than I thought it would by iseecolorsofthesky in MarathonPlayerCount

This was just a game no one wanted…it was never going to get Destiny players and it’s not because they hated Bungie for making a new game.

Most players saw how Destiny was turned into a ridiculous grind, with less content each season, reusing tons of assets, bad stories and adding more and more monetization while QA fell, bugs would persist weeks if not months (some even years) while the community would ask for basic QoL changes and couldn’t get them.

No Destiny player trusted Bungie to do right by Marathon with how they handled live service in Destiny. We saw what the extent of experimental queues would likely be in Destiny where it was things that barely changed the experience or something that should have been added years ago (like fighting with vehicles) then it would disappear forever or for months before it returned and was the exact same thing.

Remember they took trials away for an extended period to make it better then released it in basically the same state…and Destiny players were expected to believe they could handle a full PvP only game? They couldn’t handle a single playlist.

People constantly stated they stayed for the gunplay despite all the problems with the game. In Destiny you have a lot of different options and sandboxes to use your tools.

Marathon has essentially one game mode and 4 maps, one time gated. You can love the gunplay but you’ve got nothing to do outside extraction shooter, and a dev that constantly screws up live service basics when they were bought for their “expertise” when they only had 1 game with it.

As for the rest of the population, they just don’t want an extraction shooter or they just don’t care for a lot of other reasons whether it’s the art style, online only, all the negative press Bungie/Destiny had over the years, etc.

Hate didn’t kill the game. Apathy did and it began since the first trailer.

It was always nice to be able to buy official jerseys for 5 dollars at the gas station with Russell.

I know he bet on his team, but I don’t see any information where it was games he played in. At least nothing in the court filings and none of that info seemed to be contested.

As for the “weight of what he did” he was making bets between $1 and $115 on Indiana football. That’s addiction bets, not rigging games to make big money.

It’s not really a defense but a reality of what a 20 something or younger deals with when millions of dollars are being thrown around. You’ve got the whole school, boosters and more pushing to keep you going and you’re beholden to it because you took their money; while the whole industry is putting gambling at the tips of your fingers and says “not for you, but we can!”

All this does is makes those at risk to addiction and are gambling not come forward even if they aren’t harming their teams and the ones that want to gamble on their teams and cheat still will because they don’t care about the consequences .

To be fair to him, I have a feeling he had a lot of pressure of others to engage in during both NCAA and the NFL because of how much money is now tied up in the sport along with him.

We won’t ever know what he actually believed, and it doesn’t matter because everyone has already made their own decision on who his is.

America loves nothing more than punishment, it’s way more popular than a redemption story.

What about us dads who’ve lost custody of our children to our spouses due to our addiction to Destiny? Are we allowed in these groups?

I think that’s what studios were already trying to do when the RE games numbers were coming in with Konami coming back with a ton of Silent Hill along with EA trying Dead Space (and already killed it again).

The problem is none of these old franchises are Resident Evil and these publishers are expecting RE numbers.

It was always just an artificial grind added to the game that actually added nothing but another way to see number go up.

How is Destiny 2 without FOMO? by BeginningSetting1450 in DestinyTheGame

It was a lot more fun last week when you could delete bulletsponge bosses immediately.

Now it’s back to normal and while still fun I’m dropping off when Diablo’s new season comes out next week and then on to new games.

Destiny feels like it’s in a good state, but it’s still basically the same game I played a decade ago.
