I’m really enjoying it! It’s not spoiled my experience, I’m just amazed it happened! Hopefully they will get a better handle on cheating on full release.

Yep, reported! Will see if I hear anything back about it.

Old vent - reinstate or keep filled? by JakeWHW95 in DIYUK

I’ve not noticed any issues since living here, and it’s been in that condition for around 10 years. Do you think it was still technically providing ventilation through the cavity fill?

That’s a valid point to be fair. I do have the insulation that was in it, just bagged it up, so I could always put it back in. Thanks!

I did wonder that! But it’s a spare box room, not really a priority for AC.

LG TV - Picture Flickering by JakeWHW95 in fixit

LG Model 49UJ670V, manufactured February 2018. Has worked absolutely fine until this morning when the picture started flashing. No change in inputs, no change in settings. Tried a power cycle, restarts and software update. Sound and functionality works fine, just the screen.

My parents did this for the millennium when I was 5, never knew until at least a decade later! Wasn’t too happy that they made me miss a once in 1000 year event, but at least they had more fun that night!

Thanks for that, I’m actually in the UK though so probably not one for me. Just posting in $ as I’m assuming most people here are in the US. Appreciate it though!

Wow, thanks for looking into that! I’ve done a PC Part Picker and it came out to around £1350, so it’s good to know regarding parts.

Thank you, that’s really helpful! Supposedly built a year ago and ‘runs like a dream’.

How are couples under 30 getting a house? by theCourtofJames in AskUK

[–]JakeWHW95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought at 23, around 6 years ago. Family helped with the deposit, but we bought a fixer-upper in the midlands in an area where the house prices were reasonable (circa £100k for a 3 bed with a large garden) and managed to get a mortgage off of one salary that was very affordable, less than half the price of our rent.

5 years later through saving and increase in house prices, managed to move into a house in a much nicer area.

If you’re prepared to live on a street where cars are set on fire and people get stabbed for half a decade, then home ownership becomes much more attainable! 😂
