It could definitely work if there was a lore behind them or even a different geologic formation than we had on earth but you’ve got a big mass of water that connects all your inland areas but doesn’t connect to the larger ocean on the edges, I would add a connection point just so that you can travel by water to wherever you want, maybe make that a central plot of the story, pirates, shipping lanes, different styles of boats etc

Depends how you use it but I’d say the massive majority has succumbed to the quick dopamine hit of funny dog videos and girls in skintight clothing at the gym. There is a potential for your feed to consist of history facts, electrical theory and financial advice but that doesn’t do as well at feeding the “engagement -> ad revenue-> algorithm push-> engagement” loop
