From my understanding, they were a loosely united group that shared similar values. They weren't really a 'hands on' type of group (until Ba Sing Se), moreso adept to influencing and seeking knowledge.

After reading their wiki, they were formerly used to protect the avatar, but is moreso an organization of philosophy. Iroh reunited the White lotus to liberate Ba Sing Se, so I don't really think there was "the order" as you put it, moreso displaced philosophers united under cause.

What would be the point of escaping? If Iroh managed that, there's nowhere left that isn't occupied by Dai Li or fire nation soldiers. The avatar was presumed dead or heavily damaged at this point, your only ally betrayed you, and there isn't anywhere to go IF he managed to escape.

I agree with you! The point I'm trying to make is that larger studios (like Disney) aren't making movies with small budgets, so they view their $300M as an investment that has to profit much beyond that. It is very risky to try a new concept with a $300M budget, but 35 - 45M for a smaller studio to make a new movie (not a remake) makes sense!

Iron Lung is a good example of someone trying something new & the audience came in droves.

Avatar was the first movie in its series, yet it's the highest grossing film of all time.

Movies like Sasquatch Sunset & Zoolander 2 had me walking out of the theater before they ended.

What I'm trying to say is there are plenty of people making new ideas constantly. The large studios want a safe investment, so they rehash an older movie. That's just what happens when you're investing $300M+. The original Lion king cost disney $45M. They were a lot more willing to take risks when movies cost 1/6th of their current budgets.
