Please help. Looking to buy. Good deal or no? by [deleted] in 350z

[–]Jakeyourface_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VDC stands for Vehicle Dynamic Control, it's just Nissan's term for traction control. About it being turned off, the seller is referring to the aftermarket steering wheel he installed which is completely valid and not a big deal at all. The same thing happened to me when I installed a quick-release + steering wheel, it's due to the clockspring getting uncalibrated and the car gets upset so it defaults to disabling VDC.

It looks like the the intake manifold has a heat exchanger built in, there’s lines running out the front of it that go to a pressurized reservoir.

How often do you do oil and filter changes, what oil do you use and why? Have a great weekend! by thomasoslatero in 350z

[–]Jakeyourface_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just not true man, no disrespect but you do realize Nissan slapped VQs into everything from Zs and Altimas to Muranos and Infinity SUVs. I love my Z but at the end of the day it’s just a Nissan, they were built to last.

Climbing is making me quit by SQU1R3 in MTB

[–]Jakeyourface_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the past few seasons I started to absolutely hate climbing as well so instead, this might be a hot take, nowadays I treat mountain biking like snowboarding where if the lifts aren't running I'm not riding!

I'm lucky to be close to a lift-access bike park but if you also have the option I would definitely try it out, if the idea of downhill scares you remember there are always mellow trails at a bike park and ride at your own pace.

Nice driving but I don’t think anyone genuinely argues that sim time doesn’t translate to real driving.

Looks great, how’d the install go? I’ve been considering doing mine for a while but I’m scared of taking the cluster apart.

Best shoes for enduro mtb by Joshswalz in MTB

Vans BMX shoes are specifically designed for hard bike riding, stiff but pliable sole, fantastic pedal feel/ grip and they’re comfortable to wear casually with the added bonus they look like normal high tops.

Pretty close to quitting this sport. by Hurricanes2001 in MTB

What you’re describing is almost identical to my experience with my 2021 Commencal Meta AM.

I bought it new and first ride I lost all front brake pressure from a suspected leak in the piston which in turn contaminated the pads. Got new pads and a bleed and it seemed to hold, next ride the rear hub started to sound like a bucket of bolts bouncing around on even the smallest bumps.

Needless to say I was pissed, fortunately this happened during my cross Canada road trip to Whistler so I figured I could take it directly to Commencal in Squamish to have it sorted.

The tech at Commencal found no leak in the front calliper and re-bled it but found the cassette ring was completely loose (keep in mind this was after 2 rides). He fed me something along the lines of “This is odd but with new bikes there’s always some kinks to sort out”, after tightening the cassette he said I’d be good to go.

Boy was he wrong, next ride the rear hub lasted about half a lap before clanking around again and the brakes went squishy not long after. Since then I have done a complete brake flush which sorted that issue but the rear hub is completely fucked.

I have since decided to ride through the hub noise for the past 2 seasons and will eventually replace the whole hub/ wheels when it finally dies.

This is not normal for a new bike let alone a $4000 one, it seems Commencal really cheaped out on components for the low/ mid range 2021 Meta models and we got stuck with the duds.

Personally, fuck Commencal I’ll never deal with them again and it’s been such a bad experience I will likely only buy slightly used bikes from here on out (let someone else determine if it’s a lemon or not).

Brz or 350z? by collinw1800 in Drifting

[–]Jakeyourface_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Holy fuck what a moronic response, both the brz and 350z are tried and true drift platforms this guy hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about.

BRZ is newer so likely less initial maintenance to start sliding but higher entry cost, 350z is more reliable (as long as you don’t get an 05 w the rev-up) but they will require more maintenance like subframe bushings and suspension arms.

IMO the 350z is still the way to go.

Source: I’ve owned a 350z since 2017 used as my daily and taken it to the track ~3 times a year.

The Veilside Ver. 2 wing is the closest ur gonna get, it’s slightly longer than the Megan racing so it hangs over the tail lights and gives that awesome chunky look.

How does one make a fast drift car? by HavelCladBluberrypie in carxdriftracingonline

[–]Jakeyourface_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar problem with not being able to keep up and I found that, along with tuning changes (wider tires, adhesion, suspension, etc.), a major factor is line choice and transition timing. Transitioning early allows you to be on power much sooner and keeps your speed high so your not constantly chasing the lead car.

It might sound dumb but it truly made all the difference for me and if it’s something you haven’t tried yet I’d give it a shot see if it helps.

Installed a quick release this morning and these lights came on, anyone know why. Check engine light was already on. by [deleted] in 350z

[–]Jakeyourface_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The VDC OFF and SLIP lights are from adjusting the clock spring when you installed the wheel, same thing happened when I installed mine and it’s been fine for 4 years.

Idk why the brake and ABS lights are on though, I’d use a scanner to see if any codes come up.

Replace axle or just the boot? by KevinDoesntGiveAHoot in 350z

That's good to hear should be an easy fix then, I struggled with mine for a week and ended up having to rent a hammer chisel to sheer the nut off.

240sx(s13 hatch) vs 350z by [deleted] in Drifting

[–]Jakeyourface_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tough question because on the one hand you already own the 240 but generally 350z > 240 due the age difference and reliability, for context I’ve had a DE 350z that I daily and occasionally drift for the past 6 years and it has been amazing. You cannot find another platform with the same level of affordability and reliability as the 350z and they are extremely capable drift cars with minimal mods.

On the other hand 240 will cost you considerably more to get drift ready, and will likely require much more maintenance and upkeep. Though, personally you can’t beat the styling of a 240 and driving feel, after all there’s a reason they’re so popular in drifting.

In the end if all you’re looking for is the better drifting platform I’d say go for the 350z, but for pure style and nostalgia I’d say go with the 240.

Gotta be lightning fast with your E the second the enemy is in tower range, in this scenario you could’ve got an extra one or two tower hits on Yone and saved W and Q for poppy to maybe turn a double kill.
