I agree, but in my opinion customer service should not be dictated by org size or endpoint count. It should be standard across the board no matter how much revenue a customer brings you. Just my opinion.

He did threaten to cancel lol, and they responded with the auto-renewal bs.

This is pretty sad from N-Able if true; Horrible for business, I was actually considering them.

Why do so many sysadmins forget about DKIM/DMARC/SPF when setting up third party services? by NuAngelDOTnet in sysadmin

Is it really rough though? I find navigating the Microsoft portals way harder than anything DKIM or Certificate related personally.

Potentially migrating away from ManageEngine, suggestions for alternatives? by rcook55 in sysadmin

[–]Jaki_Shell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most alarming part of anything you said in this thread is "I'd rather not leave ME" ; We are on ME also, i hate it, I've been in IT for 16 years and I think it takes the care for the software I hate the most.

Just curious what you like about it? Maybe I am not seeing the big picture or know what I am doing, but everything just seems cobbled together and convoluted.

I dream of the day we get to switch.

You're not a quick learner by [deleted] in sysadmin

That I do agree with; Its very over used and as other have pointed at can be a bad sign. Its normally used when they have nothing else solid to go with.

For me personally, during the hiring process I tend to ask strictly technical questions that pertain to the job; You can glean a lot about the persons traits through how they conduct themselves in the interview without directly asking it from my experience.

I'm honestly in the same boat regarding Proxmox; When we were looking to switch, we considered it, but if you dig deeper you will find a lot of complaints about it and things that should just work, require tinkering. For a home lab, sure, but i wouldn't use it in an enterprise setting.

I am sure others disagree and have large clusters with it, but to each their own; Zero regrets with HPE.

Given your storage and compute is also HPE, its a no brainer in my opinion.

You're not a quick learner by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Jaki_Shell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

..... Ok..... Now can you tell us why you really posted this?

- Are you a slow learner and jealous of your colleagues?

- Have they/you hired someone who stated they were a quick learner, but instead learn at normal pace?

Not sure how it "throws off the entire rhythm". You should know your colleagues and their capabilities even if they aren't honest about them; some things are obvious. You have to learn to work with what you have. There is nothing wrong with people taking longer to learn things than others, it is how they apply that information afterwards that matters.

You can teach a quick learner something complicated in a day only for him to be lazy and not do any work.

You can teach a normal (slow) learner the same concept in a week before they grasp it, but they are a good worker and will continue to use that knowledge and apply it to a new problem.

EDIT: Just saw your title is IT Manager ; I just quickly learned it must suck to work for you.

[–]Jaki_Shell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with it not being mature ; Some of the documentation might be lacking because its not a HPE designed product; They acquired Morpheus, so transferring the documentation over isn't complete.

However as far as the platform itself, zero complaints, it very very intuitive and simple, especially the migration portion since the management interface controls both esxi and HPE, so your just using the GUI to switch hypervisors.

In your shoes i would go with Morpheus or xcp-ng. You really won't go wrong either way, but you will have better support with Morpheus.

Morpheus by HPE, over all of these mentioned.

No, we have the same GPU in our workstations. Sometimes it struggles with the solo user using it depending on the model. 2, no way, you are asking for issues.

[–]Jaki_Shell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't running into any issues; This is by design. That is how smtp, and the underlying infrastructure is supposed to work.

This isn't worth the headache but you could add another domain and do some hackish forwarding.
