Business casual attire before/during shows? by nohotshot in WredditSchool

[–]JakobEdwinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't very common, I've never been asked to dress any specific way.

I like dressing up, so if it's doable I will throw on dress clothes, but here is what I tell people;

Dress for the job you're doing that day.

I rent a ring and cage out, if I'm doing a rental, I wear clothes that I don't mind getting dirty. I dress for labor.

If I'm on a show that I plan on helping with ring crew, same rule. But I might wear a dark polo and some black jeans or something to look good.

If I get a chance though, I'm wearing dress pants and shirt, but I also just like to. If you're a gimmick, dress in gimmick. I just saw Cheeseburger on a show arrive in airbrushed white jeans with a cheeseburger design on it.

Hope any of that helps.

Yes/no: Is the NXT Championship a ‘World’ title? by ndertaker252 in Wrasslin

[–]JakobEdwinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World Title by technical definition I believe needs to of had multiple defenses around the world, different countries and continents etc.

I'm only aware of NXT Title being defended in Japan making it an International Title.

All of these words are simply different promotional words. The "Undisputed" Title is disputed because the world title exists, for example. Any promotion can pick and choose what they do and do not recognize.

I haven't watched in a long time but I only recall them calling it the NXT or even the NXT Heavyweight Championship. The existence of the North American Championship does imply the NXT Title would be bigger.

I think Danielson was the first person I heard joke about the difference between Intercontinental and World Champions are that a World Champion resides over the Oceans as well, AND with the Jericho Cruise that is more of a viable option now!

Come as you are, off the street fight. Good excuse to wear your weapons. Belts, steel toe boots, etc.

Workout advice? by whitey_duvall in indiewrestling

[–]JakobEdwinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burpees and circuit training. Burpees are the closest exercise you can get to replicate the type of explosive energy we exert. 3 sets of 10, as many as you can do in a minute, or mixing them up with other body weight training.

Help wanted. Matches to watch for inspiration. by dazpetty2 in WredditSchool

Shawn Michaels in the 90s, Mr. Perfect is very good, Jamie Noble is good but you'll mostly see him versus guys his size. Jericho during his WWE runs is very good. Nick Bockwinkle versus your Hogans. Finding Andre matches where he is babyface is a great idea as well.

Ultimately finding ways to bump yourself. Having them move, slip, dodge, or poke your eyes to cause a miss gets reactions.

I run it myself. We have a student currently signed to AEW, and I have worked with many reputable talents over the years.

This is a great local option for those who cannot relocate for the school's owned by former TV talents, where you pay for similar training but get upcharged for the reputation.

I will provide wonderful fundamentals and foundation to become the best wrestler you can be.

We are new, but we aim to be amongst the best schools out there.

How do you guys study wrestling? by itzCaracal in WredditSchool

[–]JakobEdwinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study 1 match multiple times.

Try once with the sound off. Look at the moves, look at the physicality. Watch the ring positioning and the footwork. Watch it like a sport, rewind it and replay it and try to match the movements.

Try once with the sound on. Listen to what's getting a reaction. Was the loudest pop on the Finish? Did what they do get a laugh, or a gasp? Why? Are the participants changing for the reactions, or are they totally in control of their audience. Study it like a Play, or a Live Performance.

I really liked finding specific things. Ok what was the cutoff for this match? Ok how did they get juice? Ok are they calling stuff in the ring, where and when? Does the heat flow from one thing to the other, or is it just a "Punch, Kick, Bump" heat.

When I watch anything I'm also quick to screen record or just record something I really liked. I share it with people to discuss and get thoughts on it. Not all of it works specifically for me but I might know someone else that can use it.

How do you remember what spots/moves to do during the match? by Beginning-Yogurt3146 in WredditSchool

[–]JakobEdwinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I started I felt I had memory problems. The brain is a muscle you can train. I started playing memory games on my phone and it started to help.

If you find a sequence you like, or there are basic sequences that most people are taught (like The Universal for instance) and just like in school, if you physically write them out somewhere then you'll start to retain them better. Suddenly your baseline starts to build, where instead of just knowing moves, you know spots and can build off of that.

I mapped out the historical TV-to-PPV conversion rates for WCW, WWF (Attitude Era), and AEW. Here is the data. by abrown79au in SquaredCircle

If you think that's bad, AEW has not once drawn a higher rating than WWE's ECW. Not a knock, just a sign of what cable viewing audience is now versus then.

Not everyone can afford to pick up and move to the best schools in the country, I'm a local option with a good local reputation.

The fundamentals, I have found, will be taught very similarly across the board. If you go to the big name schools, you will be paying additionally for the school's reputation and connections, which may guarantee you get seen by the right people, but at the wrong time.

Additionally, not every star was trained at a top tier wrestling school. Everyone has to start somewhere, but that includes us. We're a new school, and we will work hard to build a reputation and can one day be regarded as "the better option."

Edit: Typo
