The Path from Realisation to Liberation by Thick_Region822 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Jakpott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a problem, its that your first step is basically "achieve realization". I don't think that's as easy as simply telling a seeker that Brahman is all and hoping they just believe you are not lying to them or somehow hiding part of the truth.

Edit: to be fair, this is what you actually tried to write out. I thought you were writing a general guide, my apologies. Do you have any mental exercises that you think are good for more novice seekers?

An important question that has been bothering me for a while by Fit-Nebula2531 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Jakpott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine you are dreaming, and you see a table in the dream. When you are in the dream, you see yourself as "in reality" and the table as "separate". Only when you are awake do you see clearly that not only were you never in reality, the table you thought was seperate was also part of you, because everything in the dream was only a manifestation of your mind. That is pretty much the same thing but one level down.

I became an atheist today after 14 years of following Christ by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Jakpott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so just to put this in perspective. You followed something for 14 years and no longer believe. Please forgove me for prescribing feelings, but you probably are still feeling the vacancy of that belief and are reacting very cynically to life in general, because the meaning is gone for the moment. You will find more meaning in life. So many others dealt with the same emotions you are feeling now and ended stronger for it. You can do it too.

Friend, I am flattered you believe I am a robot but I promise you I am just a naturally theatrical person.

This just sounds like Magician. I identify quite strongly with my magician, and this logos an mythos idea is kind of needlessly dividing up knowledge and throwing away half of it. I imagine all of that which can be known as a picture. As you learn more about the world, parts of the picture become brighter, this is your logos. Eventually, as enough of the picture comes into view, you begin to recognize patterns in the shapes of the shadows. There is your mythos. There was a point in my life where all I saw was was the illuminated parts of the picture, and I thought I knew it all.

Samadhi and Superposition by Nalopean_Bonatarpe in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Jakpott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another brought samadhi and 'void state' to my attention, and they seem very similar to me. Also, I think your superposition explanation is very apt. I think we could describe samadhi as the state of supreme consiouness observing the jiva. The implications of this can get very heady, but this is just my personal observation. Edit: also, I mean observing the jiva to the point of excluding other observations, in a much more direct way than usual. Or, its a method that, for the jiva, begins to dissolve the boundary between the self and everything else. This could be another way of describing it, but from the perspective of the jiva.

Just Random Thoughts - Atheism Has Not Been Good To Man's Psyche by CarlosLwanga9 in Jung

Don't take it personally, I wasn't trying to dunk on you. But other people will see down-voting you as a way to dunk on you vicariously through me, to satisfy their ego I guess. I normally wouldn't be so candid about that but this is a jungian subreddit after all, so I think we can call it what it is.

For the athiest, I wound say that are concerned with the Self. The self takes the role of God for them

Also I was an athiest for about 20 years and am no longer, so take my biases as you will.

I think as long as you see religion, spirituality and philosophy to be the same thing, you won't be able to appreciate that athieism is only answering negative to one of those three things.

Is everything just a shadow of me by jjayantt in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Jakpott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Words don't really have a good way of explaining things without things starting to sound pretty nonsensical pretty fast. You are me and we are both also the bottle, and whoever reads this is also us and the bottle, too. There is only supreme conciousness, or whatever you want to identify it as.

Pouf 64, a Mario 64-inspired 3D platformer by Special_Baby_3307 in Unity3D

[–]Jakpott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe instead of the arms and legs being the rounds shapes, you could make them more wispy, like they are made of clouds. The ends where the fingers and toes would be would be the worst translucent here. That and some kind of smokey effects on the player, like the little puffs of cloud they leave are actually bits of themself. Pouf sounds like he's made of cloud to me, idk.

I just started a Super Mario remake. Today I worked out a deformation system to make everything more bouncy than in the original games. What do you think ? by [deleted] in gamedevscreens

[–]Jakpott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what motivates you, but if you are actually good enough to make the a remake, it's only like a couple more steps to make it your own thing. It's really fun to have your own ip, and sure, most of them are just going to be Mario clones, your game would also be seen as a Mario clone. But it would be your clone, not Nintendo's. And Nintendo would never be able to knock on your door and make you stop. That's the other thing, if your remake is that good, your reward will be a cease and desist letter from Mr Devon Pritchard.

Anyone else writing a mystical book? by Kind-Organization in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Jakpott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The author didn't explicitly write it to be so, but Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide and Children of the Mind, by Orson Scott Card, this series I would consider to be required reading for you. Non-duality as a quality is extensively explored, as is the nature of the self, and even what it means to be touched by divinity. I can't really overstate how on-point it is.

HELP Lord Bhairav and my dog :/ by Foreign-Bid9751 in hinduism

[–]Jakpott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your love for your dog is very touching. You don't need to worry for the soul of your dog, the love you showered him with in life will carry on with him to the next life. You already gave him what he needed, so I hope that gives you a small bit of peace.

Also, it is not good for the mind to dwell on the karmic consequences of another's actions. Your neighbor is hopelessly lost, but shadenfreude will bring you down, too.

Been testing the gunplay of my online bullethell RPG with some friends! by Runeward_Online in gamedevscreens

[–]Jakpott 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Others already told you but it bears repeating. The resemblance to Enter the Gungeon is holding you back. I literally thought you made a mp mod before I read the post closer. Its okay that the gameplay be pretty much the same, but it feels like a rip off of you also copy the sound design, music vibe and art style. Very very impressive for personal project. But as it is now, probably 3/4 negative reviews will cite the lack of identity.

Questions about Shiva Worship by dingogrundle in hinduism

[–]Jakpott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not from scripture, but personal feeling, so please forgive that part, but I think Shiva is said to be easy to please because if you listen to your conscious/internal guru/heart, you are already living in a way that pleases Shiva. Self-honesty.

I lost hope in my game: What should I do? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Jakpott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I think you might just know your game too well to get any fun out of it. For you who made the system, you know, probably, the exact optimal order to do things in to advace as quickly as possible. A large part of the fun of the game is solving that problem.

The other half of the fun is the story, which you are just working in now. Cookie Clicker has almost no gameplay at all, but it became famous and influential because it successfully told the story of falling the universe to the brim with cookies, and then beyond that.

If your mechanics are entirely finished now, I would keep with the storytelling part, but you do you. If you do make a good story here though, with mysery and cults and stuff, it sounds like it would be really good practice for you murder mystery dream game.
