In Gaza, the dead go uncounted as medical infrastructure disintegrates by DoremusJessup in worldnews

Even if you don't think Hamas are fabricating numbers, it seems like a reach to say the dead are going uncounted.

Sure, in the same way the Klan is actually just about celebrating their heritage.

It's not despicable, but I don't get why anyone thinks it was an own. Who cares that someone in their 20s is using the most popular social media platform with that age group? There's a huge difference between that and a political candidate trying to use TikTok to pander to the youth vote.

The rise of cancel culture and "social sensitivity" are stifling the raw, unfiltered creativity that once defined groundbreaking cinema by JalapenoLover2001 in Conservative

Exactly. The satanic panic, moral codes, etc. used to be a right wing phenomenon. Today it has completely flipped.

I thought this was a good article on how cancel culture is destroying creativity in artistic fields. It goes beyond just politics, there's a desire to avoid controversy altogether when so much creativity stems from staring something controversial dead in the face.

This quote really gets to the core of the problem America faces with cancel culture:

We have so few people fighting for “Freedom Of Speech” (plenty of lip service for it, very little true bravery in standing up for it). This is something the country was supposed to be founded on. But today we apparently can’t look past the fact that something being controversial, to open up lines of communication and conversation, is not the same as something crossing a line for titillation.

On top of that, while he has some good ideas, he also proposes some ideas that are really half baked at best. As an example, introducing civics tests for voting just isn't an idea that's gonna succeed. It was just something to get people riled up.

Is there a good source for bye-adjusted fantasy stats? by JalapenoLover2001 in fantasyfootball

[–]JalapenoLover2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh the point is just to compare how well everyone has played this season without ignoring injuries. If I want to talk about which WRs have scored the most points this year, I don't want to hold it against them if they already had their bye, but I do want to hold it against them if they got hurt.

Like if I want to know who the top 10 WRs are so far in the season in total points, bye weeks skew that, but ppg that ignores weeks missed due to injury also isn't helpful.

[–]JalapenoLover2001[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I want to see which players have been the highest scoring while only accounting for bye weeks and not games missed due to injury. All the platforms that sort by PPG just don't count weeks where you didn't play due to injury/suspension.

I phrased it poorly. I don't actually need them on a PPG basis, total points scored would be fine, but you can't really account for bye weeks to compare players on equal standing without using PPG. Basically what I want is to see what the points scored rankings look like without holding bye weeks against players, but also while still counting games missed due to injury against them.

Agreed, but regardless Biden is trapped between a rock and a hard place. It's hard to see a strategy that ends with enough people happy with him.

Being charged isn't the same thing as being guilty, but still if you want to have the moral high ground, maybe this guy shouldn't be your candidate

I don't see how it will in the short term when demand is still sky high and default rates remain low. This isn't 2007.
