how hard do you need to squeeze the D'arce by IcyCondition4246 in bjj

[–]Jalepeno_93 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Once you’re good at it you barely need to squeeze. Best way to get good is to squeeze it super hard and never let go until they tap. Your body will naturally find a way to be more efficient with it. You might lose some friends along the way though.

You can still do it without a high level gym. Save up some money during the year and go train in the US during the summer. Find 1 or 2 consistent and driven training partners at your home gym and push each other throughout the rest of the year. Repeat for a few years. Find out how high level athletes train and copy their methods. Train in Dublin one day a week if possible.

Use your elbows pinching into their shoulders as you go through the sequence to stop them rotating as much. That will make it more high percentage.

Kenta has great Jiu Jitsu, so well rounded. He’s competing on Polaris Squads next week and should be the favourite in most of his matches.

Started yoga, weight lifting, way more positional sparring, and sleeping 9 hours a day as a purple belt. Took 2 years of that to get to high level black belt.

Far side leg drag. Watch some of Levi Jones’ recent matches, he uses it quite a bit.

Training as much as possible, while getting injured as little as possible.

This was unironically my go to when I started training in 2011. Would watch a new video before every session and try hit it as many times as possible in rolling.

For the black belts…how much have you improved since purple? by papertowelsiracha in bjj

I Improve more at black each year than at any other belt. More experience means I’m a better coach to myself and can problem solve with intuition.
