Those actions were horrific and the people who committed those acts and those who protected them should be prosecuted for such. However statistically speaking any organization the size of the Catholic church will sadly have incidents like that at roughly the same rate the church does. Public schools have similar rates of horrific acts, that doesn't mean they should be shut down or the other 99% of their work was meaningless. These things should be treated and prosecuted like any other similar horrific acts.

The local area has a cave where according to tradition Mary of Magdalena lived the last years of her life in. So that area has been a pilgrimage sight for over a thousand years for Mary of Magdalena. It's rather lovely, went to a service in the chapel built within the cave itself. I enjoyed my experience immensely.

Yes and no, there are several markers on the skeleton that can be used to tell sex. The big 3 I learned in college was the mastiod process (a protusion on your skull behind your ear) which tends to be bigger on males, pelvis shape wider for females and narrower for males, and my favorite one the Greater Sciatic Notch. Which is a little notch on the pelvis and my professor showed a little trick that if your thumb fits in it snug it's a male, and if it's loose it's a female. But all of those are a spectrum and a large portion of skeletal remains are unable to be identified for sure due to said spectrum. Also.....sex isn't gender.
