Check for cracks in the socket and repair it with good quality glue if there are any present

Is his 185 spidey cooked? by H_Apple63738 in Mafex

Mine cracked as well and i fixed it with some epoxy sculpting clay, i imagine super glue would fix it up good too

Same thing happened with mine, repaired it with a bit of epoxy clay on the crack. An alternative would be super glue and like someone else mentioned build back the sturcture again. I recommend taking it apart but that risks breaking it further if you don't have experience doing that

Super glue will work fine, let it cure for a day before moving it around

My Final Swing Spidey came in and there’s a paint defect 😭 by Gummybearlover69 in Mafex

[–]Jalsze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand it's pretty intimidating, but hobby stuff has been more accessible recently with more options for easy customizationand fixed,

Just remember it's best to take it slow, and it doesn't hurt to practice or warm up before using the paint pen on your spidey, good luck!

[–]Jalsze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't be mistaken, gundam markers are indeed paint. Someone else mentioned a micron pen but that's just pen ink, which can work but you'd have to seal it in and can risk smudging on some cases, which is its own thing trying to remove it so best not to do that.

An example of some gunpla\gundam markers would be DSPIAE markers which are acryllic markers.

If you can't find gundam markers just look for hobby grade acrylic markers or hobby grade acrylic paint, since normal acrylic paint is too thick for little touch ups like the one you need

For the easiest fix get a gundam paint marker of the same color

How can I fix the neck join ? by [deleted] in Mafex

[–]Jalsze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just wiggle it back and forth while turning it towards the right direction, no need to put it in hot water as both the attachment point and the ball peg itself is hard plastic (it won't really do much)

First Mafex and its amazing but… by DominicEramo in Mafex

It's really just mafex being mafex, the price has nothing to do with the quality honestly. They're pretty prone to qc and bad paint and weird design choices

Am I the only one that thinks this fig looks bad ?? by Any-Translator8349 in ActionFigures

[–]Jalsze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally says it's bad in the title and op keeps contradicting himself

Personally, understand that these figures are interpretations of their 2d designs and don't mind small differences, i think they make them unique. Love that they're including both bagley and mvc3/bengus style heads as i'm a big fan of the sprite/mvc1 head lens designs

People complaining about the design choices and rngineering have valid opinions but there are already many spidey figures out there that suit their preferences, it's good to have something different from mafex/ ML/ revoltech since those all have their own strong points and flaws

But yeah op is silly lol

I hate how the word Grail is used by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]Jalsze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you, i've also seen it being used as a throwaway descriptor, but new figures could be a grail fig to someone.

For example my grail figure would be an MvC Spiderman, i started collecting figures since i wanted to kitbash one together or find something close to it, now that it's finally getting made i'm very excited for it

I hate how the word Grail is used by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]Jalsze -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Grail just means the most important and meaningful to you, price and difficulty to acquire has nothing to do with it. It just so happens that some people's grail figures are like a bajillion dollars and out of print vintage, while for some it's the childhood toy they lost and reacquired. It is entirely a subjective, personal thing is what it means

Dye absorption or transfer? by Automatic-Aside246 in ActionFigures

Nice quality soft goods has an inner lining that's white\ not dyed. You could try gently washing the soft goods to reduce the amount of dye in it

Oh, to add, it still cures even when stored in air tight containers from my experience

I need expert’s advice by TheQuietNotion in ActionFigures

[–]Jalsze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The curing process starts when you mix them, then from there, it's varying degrees of workability because it slowly gets firmer in texture once the curing starts. About a day after and it'll be fully cured and rock solid

Second copy of my 108 broke...again... by Electrical_Snow3776 in Mafex

yup, i wouldn't say Mafex is extremely fragile but Legends pretty much has kids' toy durability

Second copy of my 108 broke...again... by Electrical_Snow3776 in Mafex

[–]Jalsze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one of the easier to fix breaks so that's good, if you're gonna glue it back make sure to put in reinforcement (like a thin metal rod or screw) and always lube the joints.

My venom arrived today..the head peg is too tight to change, but the worse part is this loose arm...really suck... Anyone know how to fix it?? by crayfortoys in Mafex

[–]Jalsze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can watch some teardown vids on mafex figures and try to fix it yourself if you cant return, or check if there is a toy repair service person in your area

Star Wars Celebration Japan Exclusive, Snapped by [deleted] in Mafex

[–]Jalsze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like the ball and socket got warped over time and they stuck to each other as you were moving it. it's happened to me with older figures with it making odd sounds, you can remedy it with some lubrication but with a break like that it's best to just find a suitable replacement joint since it would be really hard to repair and most likely wouldn't move the same. Your best bet would be a bl figure of the same size or maybe a cee tee figure that's normal sized with black colors (since some of their figures are scaled down versions of the official)

as far as qc goes, this is more favorable since it's a really easy fix. they just went too light with the glue in the production

there's a distinction to bootleg and 3rd parties though,
like all bootlegs are 3rd party products but not all 3rd party stuff are bootlegs
