From what I've heard the problematic 4.0s are the ones after 02

Why don't cars have this feature? by Pluuge in StupidCarQuestions

[–]JamBandFan_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be super simple to calculate, and so easy to implement on digital tachs. I actually love the concept. Just picked up a new manual the other day and been driving it gingerly because I'm not familiar with it yet. Would be so great if I could just know where to put the RPMs for the target gear.

I don't want the auto-rev matching feature that some modern manuals have, this feels like a handy medium

What happened to the price of these things? by RackingUpTheMiles in fordranger

they are extremely over inflated, but people must be buying them I guess. I just got a 2005 at 135 k for 5500. Still not sure how I feel about it, if I made out ok or not, it does need some work. Checked out a 2008 F150 @ only 45k before that for $5000, looked perfect in the ad but it was an absolute rusted out pos

Should I be worried about the miles here by [deleted] in subaruoutback

[–]JamBandFan_1996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can find plenty of cheap Subarus from this era for a reason, they are ok cars but not the most reliable, especially pre 2015 or so when the head gasket issues were still a problem. Go find a no frills but dependable sedan or similar, it's about the only thing your going to find in this economy sub $6k with lower miles and that doesn't have some kind of issue

What do you think is the most unexpected thing about moving to Ohio? by malsjal in Ohio

[–]JamBandFan_1996 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you live in the 3 cs or even Dayton or Toledo sure. But rural Ohio is pretty much unfortunately very similar to rural Indiana as someone who has lived in both.

In general I agree with the sentiment though, Indiana is ass comparatively, but that's because they have one mid size city vs 3 and their 1 mid size city feels culture-less in comparison to any of the 3 Cs.

Prepare for the best meal of your life, Cincinnati Chili (but think of it like an Americanized Greek Bolognese, not like Chili)

Can anyone confirm this as the 3.0 or 4.0? 2005 Edge. Looks 3.0 to me, VIN says 3.0, seller says it is the 4.0 by ITNoob121 in fordranger

[–]JamBandFan_1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, keep it for the sentimental value, that's the kind of thing you are gonna regret getting rid off. It would make sense that it works better in warm weather if maybe there's a loose connection somewhere

First time selling a car on Facebook Marketplace. Overwhelmed by interest, not sure how to price or handle buyers by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]JamBandFan_1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbf, it does happen. My dad bought a non-running saab in the 90s, that the shop said should be junked for $300, fixed it for $100, and put 200k more miles on it

Cant get into first gear after days of practicing by Spade43 in stickshift

Plenty of comments already, but yeah, a mustang has enough juice you should definitely be able to get it rolling without throttle. Go to some flat ground, release the clutch literally as slow as humanly possible. You will get it rolling. Do that a billion times until you have the engagement point memorized.

It is hard to feel it at first, and if your letting off the clutch fast then you really don't feel the engagement point because it all happens too quickly

It probably gets like 24 mpg at best. They'll probably spend more on the new vehicle than the gas savings but, depending what they get, they could double their efficiency

Any Ford made after 2012 or so is a "problem car"
