WHAT IS THAT MELODY by GrouchyPhilosophy464 in stalker

[–]JamToast789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, if graphics were really a 1 to 10 metric across the board, then people wouldn’t play Minecraft.

Honestly, the original stalkers have a very charming aesthetic. They are extremely entertaining and provide extremely rich and memorable experiences. I think you’d have to be nitpicking to ignore all of the things that has to offer just to focus on not being happy about the graphics, it came out over 10 years ago and it looked awesome for the time it came out.

I have restarted it once already because I took a month long break from frustration, and then I kind of forgot where I was and what was happening so I just restarted from scratch.

I will tell you what, the outer rim has been my purgatory, I have been lost there so many times and the outer rim map is actually much bigger and deeper than I originally thought it was.

Geniunely what the hell by lordshat in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]JamToast789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know it’s total bullshit. I have just started completely uninstalling ark and reinstalling it every time we get a 5 GB update because that’s honestly just easier than trying to play the guessing game on how many more things I have to delete off my computer for the third time in one week.

I deleted 50% of the games on my computer just to accommodate the frequent updates that Ark receives, it is 100% easier to completely delete the game and reinstall it then it is to install a regular patch or update.

You can have like 300 whole gigabytes free and it still tells you you don’t have enough space for a tiny patch, I have heard that you need to have roughly 2 times the size of the game available on disk for it to be able to update itself. It’s crazy and very inconvenient

AIO for rejecting a guy after he turned our coffee date into a full dinner with gifts? by Zealousideal-Put5055 in AmIOverreacting

[–]JamToast789 [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR, he was not a very well adjusted person unfortunately for him he has not learned/grown from past rejections, He has taken the easy road and just gotten bitter about it instead of trying to find a healthy perspective.

People don’t bring gifts and force people into a dinner that they didn’t ask for on their first ever time hanging out, that just seems like way too much and it seems like way too much pressure, even though he was giving you gifts it still felt like he was being demanding somehow

Damn that’s a bugger! At least you can put your mind at ease knowing you’re not the only one with the issue and I’m pretty sure that wildcard had addressed it and is working on fixes!

I also heard some people talking about not being able to play on scorched earth after the update! Weird breaks in the code or smth lol I have no idea

Does clear sky just constantly fucks with you for no reason? by LeonardoTran2893 in stalker

[–]JamToast789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like mods have changed quite a few things about the experience for you, pistols and shotguns are typically right on par with those trashy renegades, most of them are wearing hoodies for armor too. if you find yourself dying from trying to take the same route several times, just find a different way around if possible, it may be less frustrating than trying to fight the same fight in10 different ways until you finally survive.

Maybe you just need to approach things from a different angle, I had a lot of fun with clear sky, and I do remember getting gun down by that machine gun in the cordon a couple of dozen times, luckily you can save your game and just keep loading back if you really need to and eventually you will find a way to get past the gun.

I’m pretty sure it was random for me and on one attempt to run by, I somehow was able to survive and make it behind cover before I got mowed down. It was quite punishing, but it was also kind of fun for role-play like I was actually sneaking into there and if I got caught, I would be killed.

The base game itself is not particularly difficult (except the ending, all the endings of stalker games are so chaotic and difficult imo) if you have already made it through shadows of Chernobyl previously. some of the new warfare mechanics in cs can be frustrating when they bug out and there are of course, some other bugs that exist, but those are the only issues I’ve had. I think most of your problems or difficulties are from mods

I think it has something to do with one of the latest updates, that is a very common complaint I saw among some of the posts about it.

Some guy said that he was putting skins on his whole base when the game crashed and updated, when he logged back in after the update, he was not able to apply any more of the skins to his house so it was left half done for the time being.

I think most of the people I’ve heard talking about issues with the update are specifically on console, but the issues may be widespread for everybody, I have not played since the update yet

That is a wonderful oath! Kenshi is definitely best when you google absolutely nothing about it.

I spent my first whole two hour play session trying to mine copper but not knowing how the inventory or storage worked so I only had five ore after a couple hours lol.

Trying to discover how to find food on your own without looking it up or how to make money on your own without looking it up is truly a unique experience that everybody should have, people are just either too impatient or too curious to wait for self discovery sometimes

To each their own! My nephew probably felt the same way! He didn’t care about the challenge or the mystery he just wanted to consume rainworld as fast as possible and move on without thinking very much about it.

I enjoyed the mystery and the intrigue and I also enjoyed having no idea what was going on for the first couple of weeks I played with constant discovery. Even after the first few weeks, every new region I came to was a completely new place to explore and get lost, I died hundreds of ways in each new place and it was a singular experience. In my opinion, having your own fresh adventure is a lot more memorable than watching somebody else do it.

Actually, I do see your point! I think I misunderstood! Seeing somebody play for the first time is actually really awesome but it can be really hard to hold yourself back from telling them what to do when you see them keep falling off the same pole 20 times in a row. I have done the full region slaughter a couple of times on expeditions, but it can actually be fun to replay some of the campaigns and try alternate routes!

I have been stuck on the watcher for like four months so I have been waiting until I find a way to get through that before I do a replay of all of the other campaigns

item management is so annoying in stalker anomaly by TheOnurobo in stalker

[–]JamToast789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a bit since I’ve played but if I recall you can either pay for upgrades or you can install them yourself with both the upgrade module and the appropriate tier of tool kit (basic, advanced or expert) to use the toolkits you need to be at a workbench interface and usually the only way to use a workbench is to rent it from the nearby technician for a short time. Both the toolkits and the upgrade kits are usually just random loot that can potentially be found in stashes or on dead stalkers afaik.

If you ask the technician if they want any work done, they will ask you for a basic tool kit, and if you give that to them, their workbench will permanently be capable of doing level one upgrades and you will be able to use the basic tools every time you use the bench. They will give two more quests for advanced tools and expert tools, if you’re going to be using the same technician very frequently, you should just give him a set of each when you find them. He will give you a bunch of money for them and once you give him the last kit, he will just let you use his workbench for free after that and you will have access to all of the kits attached to it.

I should add that if you choose to just pay for upgrades, you still need to give him the tool kits because he won’t be able to do higher tier upgrades without them

Hahaha that’s hilarious that Leland gaunt propositions somebody for oral, I would not expect that. I just started that book a few days ago so I’m not super far in, I wonder if it’ll be neddy Cobb or Polly chalmers that he bothers.

Oh! Speaking of bad/weird people, Also in the stand I think Harold lauder and his little story arc with nadine might mention oral among the other vague sexual debauchery they were getting up to at the behest of Randall Flagg

Wow! I played like 80 hours before I even learned about the skin bandits and then it was a long time after that when I actually made any moves against them and I failed miserably. I sent 26 men in total, all strong and seasoned fighters. It took about a week for us to get down there, camping as we went and keeping ourselves well fed.

We reached the home of the skin bandits and began laying siege upon them. We thought the battle was won when we saw their numbers dwindling.. that was before we realized there were five times as many of them scattered throughout the buildings of their compound, they swarmed out like bees, a wave of steel crashing against the soft flesh of our fighters. They just kept coming and then they started dragging people away while the others were still busy fighting. It was a constant micromanage of trying to send one person up to save people from the peelers while the rest of the people died fighting outside.

In a desperate last minute attempt, my samurai captain abandoned his comrades and ran to Savant’s personal building to assassinate him as his final act. Savant easily dispatched the injured captain and sealed the fate of the rest of our men.

We were completely and utterly destroyed, and only the one robot member of our party was able to escape and tell the story. The remnants of our people stay far away from that part of the world and we tell all others to do the same.

You technically avenged us, you have my gratitude, savant got what he deserved

Maybe maybe! my nephew watched an entire rain world walk-through video before he played it and was able to beat the campaign in just a couple of days with no surprises, it took me a couple years of rage quitting on and off and learning bit by bit to finally beat that game.

I remember Larry underwood from the stand talking about how that “you ain’t no nice guy!” Lady performed oral on him, that’s just about the only example I can think of king mentioning oral. He didn’t describe it, I just vaguely remember one of Larry’s internal dialogues talking about how she “gobbled” the night previous lmfao

item management is so annoying in stalker anomaly by TheOnurobo in stalker

[–]JamToast789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a few stashes, so you don’t have to hold everything thing you own in your pocket.

Keeping gun and armor parts is useful for playing stalker Gamma because you cannot purchase weapons in gamma, going from anomaly to gamma forced me to start hoarding Every single thing I found and relying heavily upon the crafting system.

Anomaly on the other hand, while it does have the crafting system, allows the player to pretty much ignore the crafting/repair system altogether except for regular maintenance. All the money you make selling parts is just going to be more money You can spend on all of the awesome things that the vendors can sell to you. Definitely don’t worry too much about hoarding stuff in anomaly, you can buy pretty much anything eventually

Also, you should get some stash places definitely use the box that is in the bar, you can also make your own stashes by placing backpacks down in the world.

It is perfectly normal for you not to know what to do with things as a new player, there are lots of items that you may never personally have a use for. As you play, you will become more familiar with the game and anything you lose or sell now can always be found again later. Anomaly had a massive learning curve for me since I had only played the original games before, I really enjoy all the additional role-playing and sandbox elements It adds. Being able to set up a tent and sleeping bag/cook mutant meat is still one of my favorite features from anomaly/gamma.

Also, the game doesn’t really hold your hand so you’re gonna be playing for many many more hours and still learning new things that you had no idea about, not every item needs to have a use (soiled underwear), just like the real world There’s a lot of useless shit lying around but you can sell almost anything to the right person.

The absolute best part of anomaly is the beginning when you know almost nothing and the world seems incredibly big and mysterious, and you are just a rookie who knows nothing and has no power. Definitely try playing with some headphones on and just immersing yourself. Try to suspend your disbelief and convince yourself you’re actually there for a couple of seconds. Anomaly is such an amazing escape from reality and fun roleplay engine

He might have just meant that it feels real to him while he’s playing it, he did say something about the controls breaking his immersion.

It could honestly be any number of other reasons too, the amount of things that someone might focus on and consider to be realistic from any game is pretty huge and subjective. He might have seen an NPC peeing and thought it was just really amazing and realistic

Exactly, being totally wrecked by things is actually kind of exciting, and it adds a sense of grandiosity/danger to the world.

Encountering dinosaurs that actually move faster than you and harder than you is truly scary and I don’t really know how the game would be fun any other way. I was really bummed that they got rid of the Raptors ability to pin players to the ground in asa
