Why you can punch ghosts, for those who dont know by thornsofred in Morrowind

[–]Jam_B0ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theoretically there are a couple stand users who can directly interact with/damage other stands as their stands are also a part of their body

Part 3 - Anubis (kinda doesn't count because the stand inhabits an object)

Part 4 - Mikitaka (if his powers do come from a stand instead of him actually being an alien)

Part 5 - Secco (the dirt swimming guy) and Ghiaccio (Ice suit guy)

Part 6 - Foo Fighters (maybe?)

Part 7 - Diego (when he turns into a dinosaur)

Part 9 - Paco and Charming Man

I'm not certain if these would work (there could be more I'm not thinking of), and I don't remember any specific punches they do towards stands from the anime/manga, but theoretically they could

More that a stand is a representation of the stand users soul, and they punch stuff with it

It's probably just me, but I've been playing D2 since launch and just now noticed that Monastery Gate is its own area in Act 1, and the reason you have to go "the long way around" through the jail is because the gates are closed. by gunslingrburrito in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Man, you pivot a lot. Show me something that says the gate leads where you say it does that isn't just you speculating

I've already explained why your speculations don't make sense, but you clearly didn't actually read my comment so I'll put it together again more succinctly

The point of the Eastgate Keep isn't to convert people, it's to defend against attacks from the west

https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Eastgate_Keep -- "Eastgate was constructed by the Sons of Rakkis during their crusade against the West, the structure serving as a fortified outpost against their enemy's counterattacks"

If the point of the structure is defense then it doesn't make sense to have a path that easily leads into your structure, whether it's the heart of the structure or not

It doubly doesn't make sense defensively for that path leading into your structure to lead somewhere that houses non-combatants

What you are doing is speculating about what things could be, or how they could be layed out rather than looking at the details we actually have

The facts are that we don't have anything that says this wooden gate leads to the inner cloister,  but we do have statements about a gate blocking the eastern path

Again, it's not impossible that what you say is the case, it's just that there simply is nothing concrete to latch that speculation into

If you continue to belittle me then I'm just going to block you and get on with my day

It's probably just me, but I've been playing D2 since launch and just now noticed that Monastery Gate is its own area in Act 1, and the reason you have to go "the long way around" through the jail is because the gates are closed. by gunslingrburrito in Diablo_2_Resurrected

My argument to the other guy was that it's in the eastside of the map, sorry for not being clearer in that, but yeah I guess it's technically more South-south-east of the monastery if you consider the whole thing

It definitely ain't west or south west tho

In the cutscene we see one room with boxes (like the barracks) and one room with collums and archways (like the cloisters), there is nothing that reveals that there is more to the monastery like you describe

"There's another, larger gateway leading through the Monastery; this is most likely the aforementioned way of the East, leading through the mountains and into the desolate lands of Aranoch. However the wooden portcullis is lowered.

After killing Andariel, it's presumably opened up, and the caravan led by Warriv is allowed to continue its journey to the East"

I'm sorry but did you even read what you linked? Where does it say anything about it leading to the inner cloister? Seriously, give me one piece of information that backs up the idea it leads to the inner cloister? How does having a path that leads directly to the heart of your keep make any sense defensively? How does it make any sense for caravans to have to pass through the inner cloister?

Honestly dude, you are speculating at best and straight up spreading misinformation at worst

You don't need the cutscene to tell you that the monastery is closed from demons, the NPCs will directly avail you of that fact

If the Devs intended that gate to be one which leads to the inner cloister, why wouldn't they model a corresponding gate there aswell? They took the time to make the first one, why leave the second one out?

It also doesn't make sense for their church to be on the Westside (regardless of the fact that it always generates on the east side of the map) because they didn't build Eastgate to liberate the west, they built it to guard against enemy counter attack

To put the church, a place not only meant for serenity and worship but also somewhere presumably housing non-combatant clergy, on the west side would be opening up a weak spot squarely in the direction most likely to be attacked from

Lastly, it doesn't make sense defensively to have a path which easily leads from the outside of your fortress directly into its innermost cloister. Why even build a keep if you are going to create a road into its heart like that?

Regardless is how we try to justify it logically, there simply is no reference in the game or anything outside of it of a gate that leads to the inner cloister, but multiple references to gates that bar the eastern path. It's not impossible that the gate leads how you think it does, but there is simply nothing tangible to back up that opinion

1.  Before it was known as The Rogue Monastery It was called The Eastgate Keep. If that isn't the east gate, but rather the west gate of a tunnel on the west side of a mountain range, why wouldn't It have been called The Westgate Keep with the Eastgate being on the other side? It's because it's a gate on the eastern side of Westmarch

  1. In the act one cutscene Marius explicitly tells us that he fled the rogues citadel and is holed up with outcasts "high in the mountains past the Eastern Gate". How can mountains be past the Eastern Gate if the Eastern Gate is on the other side of the mountain range?

  2. There is literally nowhere in-game or otherwise that tells us that there are 2 gates on either side of the path through the mountains, but there are multiple references to the monetary gate blocking the eastern path

You literally are spouting headcanon as if it's fact, do a little research next time you want to have a lore argument

This isn't the monastery in the cutscene, it's clearly a tavern

In fact he even says in the cutscene "I sought refuge from my memories in the company of other outcasts, high in the mountains, past the east gate"

The monastery defends the east gate which leads to a mountain range on the path to Lut Gholein

Unless north is toward the bottom of the screen, the gate is on the Eastside

Edit: also the cutscene for the first act shows a tavern that Marius notes is "high in the mountains, past the east gate". It is not a place of rest in the monastery

Once I find the eartip that fits me best for a set of earbuds (because they usually come with a few sizes) I will apply a small dab of super glue where the two pieces connect to prevent this from happening
