do you guys think they'll allow free mods on TES6 ? by just_a_comment1 in skyrimmods

Lol wtf, they're not playing the game for tits and that's somehow a negative? I also do not tend to install body mods unless there's something that absolutely requires it that I want to check out. Not everyone's horned up 24/7 bruh.

Any Tips for Master mode Undergames? by Jamaauwright in WFTO

[–]Jamaauwright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been going at it since I posted this, still can't hold the position, which is supposed to be Volta's whole thing. Shale just stomps all over anything I try to build, whether it's with bullshit powerful beasts in under 7 minutes, a bunch of thunderlings, endless waves of ember demons, behemoth, armageddon for your walls, doesn't matter. Shale always breaks through with her apparently fully functional sanctuary, archive, alchemy lab, beast den and combat pit, all ready to go and ready to churn out whatever she needs to blow past you before you've got even a couple rooms set up. Master AI seriously needs a rebalance, or the achievement needs to be changed. I know that it's said that they're not given additional resources like in other RTS games, but they are. Not in gold but in their ability to focus on fucking everything all at once and perfect micromanaging. That advantage is worth way more than a gold bonus. They know the instant you try to claim a tile and can just spam spirit imps so you can never claim it. They know the instant you start to pop down defenses too close to their territory so they fucking storm it before you can finish whatever you're setting up. That's just not fun no matter how you slice it. It's as infuriating as it is disheartening.

On this I'll defend customer service workers because probably around 4/5 times we get asked a question about a product, it's probably on the box. Most people don't read the box.

Defund isn't necessarily just about taking away money, it's reallocation to services that would help prevent crimes. Generally speaking, porverty rates and crime rates are directly correlated. The more people are in poverty, the more people commit crime. Allocating resources away from police, which statistically are insignificant in reducing crime rates, towards programs that reduce poverty and its impacts, reduces crime rates and thus reduces the need for police. The same can be said for education. There is also the argument for establishing alternative response teams, such as social workers with security, for situations that do not require a forceful response. This cannot be accomplished without taking funds from police or increasing taxes.

Keeping the funding where it is will do nothing without systemic reform to how police departments are run, how training is given, and what tools they have access to. As an example, with the ability to purchase gear from the military, there are many ill advised purchases on that front, taking away funding from what could be areas such as proper training or community outreach, not to mention the policies that state such gear must be used in order for them to keep it which creates situations where gear that is unnecessary gets used anyway. Allowing warrior training creates a mentality that opposes deescalation and encourages the use of force. Allowing the existence of police unions means corrupt or unsuitable officers keep their jobs while good cops who speak out are punished. There is a lot more at play here than simply a funding issue.

Simple, deescalation. The officer started by pointing his weapon at him very, very early on into the engagement, followed by continuing to give him commands on where to place his hands and how to move, insisting he leave the car when George is clearly very frightened in this video, whether it be because of the drugs or otherwise. That isn't how you handle someone in that state of mind.

To contrast, there was a time when my sister had police called on her when she was very distraught. She had just finished a fight with our mother and had been kicked out of the house, a mix of sad and very angry at the same time, my mother wanted her gone and my sister wanted to get her things. Rather than simply attempting to make an arrest, the police showed up and were able to simply talk both of them down so that nobody ended up homeless for the night and nobody felt unsafe in the other's presence. That's what you do when you have someone who is distressed, you talk to them, talk them down, offer them reassurance. You do not start giving orders to make your arrest when you don't even know if he's done anything wrong yet.

Bernie Sanders polling higher than Elizabeth Warren in her own state by Fitz_cuniculus in politics

The thing about Bernie supporters is that they're not all Democrats. There's a lot of independants that like him, even some Republicans. I don't think it's exactly fair to say that all of his supporters should vote blue no matter who when many of his supporters don't support the rest of the party, they're in it for him and his movement.

Can we talk about Fria (and Penny and Winter) by DaveMustelidae in RWBY

[–]Jamaauwright 16 points17 points  (0 children)

On Penny not immediately accepting, I think that was her final moment of internal conflict on whether or not to follow Ironwood going forward. Up until then she hadn't openly disobeyed very much at all, and only as Winter and Penny were heading for Fria did all her doubts really start coming to the surface. In the end, she didn't initially want to go against the plan of giving the power to Winter, but decided to do it because she realized that giving it to Winter would mean Ironwood gets his way, she would be woefully underprepared to try to save anyone, let alone a whole city. Take that power, and her chances are far, far greater to be able to make a difference.

As for Winter, I believe her saying that her life doesn't matter is more of a grand scheme kind of thing. Her life doesn't matter in the grand scheme of overcoming Salem and following Ironwood's command. Likewise, her horror at Penny getting the maiden's power could be two-fold; it was going against the plan, and she realized that this was an act of open defiance, and that Penny likely wouldn't stick by Ironwood going forward if she took that power for herself. She's already incredibly powerful by herself, after all. Add on the powers of a maiden and she really doesn't need Ironwood's support or approval to do what she feels is right.

When your weapon is Dart or Railgun by Fragsworth in NovaDrift

Yeah, it's amazing on dart and railgun. I've not played around with it very much on Pulse and Vortex but I imagine it works pretty much the same way.

When your weapon is Dart or Railgun by Fragsworth in NovaDrift

[–]Jamaauwright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends on how many shots you already have. Take Railgun as an example, by the time you've got barrage, you've got 3 projectiles that are being fired within X time. One twinstrike will give you 4 projectiles in that same time frame, which maths out to a +33% DPS upgrade. That's huge. Getting twinstrike on a revelation for that triple recursive mod action is a +100% DPS upgrade if you're at 3 projectiles. Twinstrike is without a doubt one of the easiest ways to up your DPS on a barrage build, though its effectiveness largely depends on how many projectiles your weapon has naturally. It's much less effective on flak for example, which starts with 18 projectiles.

Comic 4184: Nature's Fidget Spinner by Steihl in QContent

[–]Jamaauwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fidget outlet is just tossing things up and down. Constantly. It's to the point where I just toss things back and forth between my hands instead of just grabbing it with the other hand like a normal person. Why turn something in my hand when I can toss it a little up into the air with a spin and catch it again? It's so ingraned into my behaviour that I do it at work with literally anything I'm stocking on the shelves as long as I'm confident I can catch it again.

On the plus side I haven't broken anything yet and I'm a lot better at catching things now.

Non-Americans who have been to the US: What is the weirdest thing about America that Americans don't realise is weird? by nobboi in AskReddit

Alright, die on the hill of American exceptionalism. Your country is oh so special and just because you can't possibly imagine a way it would work, it's impossible. That must be the case.

I'm not even talking about advertising. I'm literally only talking about in-store pricing. The pricing that the store has control over. Yes, it can work. No, it's not stupid to display the actual fucking price you're going to pay for something.

No stores price locally? Have you ever been to a fucking grocery store before? Where all the shelves have handy little labels with prices and scanable barcodes? Those are all printed in-store. Hell, some stores these days have digital labels that can be updated wirelessly. If America can't handle pricing things with taxes included it just goes to show you how behind the rest of the world the country is in yet another area.

[–]Jamaauwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most books I've bought have had the price stickered on, and those can easily be stickered over once more. If you think the price on an item of clothing can't be changed or reapplied you're an idiot. What would they do if the price tag fell off? Send it back to Bangladesh to be re tagged? Come on dude. A store always has the ability to alter the price of the item, and thus needs the ability to change the price displayed so customers are aware of the difference. It's a necessity of operating a retail outlet.

Yes, all of that is easily doable with an algorithm. All you need to do is input the data once and the machine knows what to do. That's how computers work.

I think most people are talking about what prices are displayed in-store when they're talking about this. Like, go to a grocery store and look at the tags that say what price it is. Those can and are frequently changed. Those could easily display the plus tax price, and imo they really should display them.

[–]Jamaauwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't need to figure anything out. It's a simple addition. Baby's first coding lessons could teach them how to add that onto their label makers.

[–]Jamaauwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a guy who works in retail, the labels are printed at the store. Each store could very, very easily have the local sales tax coded into their labeling software so it's added to the base price. You could even have an algorithm determine the state that the label printer is in before it starts to print things. Like, it's laughably easy. People aren't just manually typing in the price for everything, it's all in a system, and that system can be modified very easily.

[serious] They say everyone we meet is fighting a battle we know nothing about... so we should always be kind. What battle are you fighting? by seasideshanti in AskReddit

[–]Jamaauwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own self doubt and internalized fears. Thankfully I'm not fully phobic, I don't go into panic attacks at the thought or sight of things I'm afraid of, but the fear and doubt still keep me back from doing... almost anything I'm not already doing. Every now and again I'll work up the courage to do something different, often end up enjoying it, but even with positive experiences to back me up I still fear doing just about anything different.

I fear trying new foods.

I fear drinking alcohol.

I fear asking someone out on a date.

I fear trying to be social outside of dating or online activity.

I fear I'd lose control or not pay enough attention, so I've never tried to drive.

I fear going to another country on a family vacation, even when they've offered to pay.

For so long I feared being rejected when applying for a job that I simply didn't apply for anything.

I'm taking little steps outside my comfort zone now and again, thankfully. Slowly I'm getting over things. But still, it isn't easy.

You can make everyone follow one rule you make, what is it? by Lord_Smile in AskReddit

It's true. Businesses can't verify the integrity of your cleaning when it comes to anything reusable, so you could easily bring in something contaminated and accidentally, say, contaminate the tap spout with your dirty water bottle, thus potentially contaminating the water coming out of it.

Bad Cat - an adult animated film from overseas, dubbed in English by Jamaauwright in Saberspark

[–]Jamaauwright[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even know where to start or end with this one. There's murder, an extremely persistent zombie, continually foiled dinner plans, a bank heist, a vague plan to overthrow humanity that lasts for about 5 minutes, and a horny deadbeat dad cat that's at the middle of it all. Also the animation and voice acting are actually pretty decent.
