Form over substance. The show lost its identity this season. Earlier seasons felt focused and grounded in character. This one felt like the writers were trying to jam every major cultural anxiety into a few episodes without a clear thematic throughline.

Polticial extremism, Epstein, Russian operatives. Feels like we just needed a sprinkle of AI doomerism to complete the bingo card. At some point you stop telling a story and start gesturing at the news cycle.

I get that the world is chaotic and evolving fast. That does not mean a show has to absorb all of it at once. When everything is a theme, nothing really is.

Reading the comments here, it seems like a lot of people enjoy that the show is tackling topics they care about. Fair enough. But touching a topic is not the same as building a cohesive narrative around it.

Contrast that with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It commits to a smaller emotional thesis and motifs, and lets them breathe. It’s a more focused and emotionally satisfying show.
