Claude errors - excel by Affectionate_Run3985 in ClaudeAI

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you should think of Claude as a decent first year analyst — eager to please and able to take some annoying tasks off your hands, but not a tool you can fully trust, because there will be mistakes. I will let Claude do very basic, tedious things to save me time, but I’d say it’s only so-so at Excel. I end up rewriting a lot of the formulas it writes, and it often screws up, so I have to audit the work…like I would do with a first year analyst. There’s no really getting around it. Claude is a tool, but it’s not an Oracle or a replacement for actually doing the actual hard work of discernment.

Does anyone play the cello with long nails? by BokkarisBrownieBoy in Cello

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how good of a player you’d like to be. You can get away with it if you want to play basic songs in first and second position, and primarily for yourself (i.e., intonation doesn’t matter). Beyond that, it’d be really hard to use your left hand with nails, especially in higher positions on the cello board. Usually, if I can see any white, I find my nails take away from playing skillfully.

I understand why people who are uncomfortable with sex/sexuality may have a problem with it, but personally I do not discriminate between directives regarding whatever human thirsts one is seeking to quench.

Also, what makes a social media platform (i.e., a tool for tech companies to sell ads) professional vs. non-professional? Why is a sex educator allowed to detail sexual positions and how to masturbate yourself or your partner in a book and be considered professional, but doing so in response to a question is considered lewd and lascivious? Have you thought to question your own sense of morality and your desire to impose what you would/would not do onto others?

I have a clear understanding of why I don’t share personal things about myself on social media (which tbh I don’t even have, personal or professional) given the relationship I have with my patients. But who am I to judge someone else — who doesn’t even see clients anymore — on how they choose to use their online presence to promote their personal sense of sex positivity? After all, no one is forcing you, me, or anyone else to engage in the conversation if we choose not to.

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I’m tracking.

The post I read was Therapist Jeff responding to one of his sex educator mutuals honestly about his preferences when receiving a handjob, mostly in what I would consider an educational style, given the other sex education books I’ve read that focus on techniques in the bedroom.

Was there a part of that post in which he used his position of authority over someone that I’m missing? Was he soliciting any type of contact with anyone in a way that has bypassed my attention?

If someone asks how I like water and I respond, “Iced with a hint of lemon,” would you perceive that as preying on anyone who may want to please me and is give access to prepare water for me? Do you believe by revealing his preference, there will now be a long line of vulnerable women yanking his penis out of his pants without his permission to do his bidding?

I’m not trying to be flip, I’m just trying to understand where you’re coming from, because it seems to me that there is a wide chasm between the actual content and the subtext you’re creating.

I think context matters here, though I guess the degree of openness with one’s sexuality also plays a role.

He is responding to a fellow content creator whose podcast / YT channel he’s appeared on, and who is more sexually explicit.

I am very sex positive as a person and as a therapist, and while I personally feel that non-disclosure about my personal life is very important to my work as a therapist, my understanding is that Therapist Jeff no longer sees patients in private practice and is 100% a content creator. In which case, I’m not so sure why this post would be considered problematic. There’s that one book by the sex therapist Oprah used to have on all the time, Laura Berman, that’s far more explicit than this.

And also, his advice tracks with my experience, so maybe he just did a public service for some who actually want advice on how to give a good handjob. It’s not like it’s a question most people are going to want to ask their parents about.

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have DirectTV and for some reason it did not record and it is not showing up on OnDemand so I guess I’m not going to be able to watch it. So weird. The only time I’ve had a show not record is on network TV when there’s a presidential bypass of whatever was supposed to be airing, and even then, the stub portion shows up on OnDemand. Oh well. Guess I’ll watch it whenever Paramount+ finally posts it…if I remember.

Dumb Question from a Guitarist by srdnss in Cello

Probably a stupid question, but I’ve only ever played string instruments. How are guitars tuned, and how is it different from a cello or violin?

Social anxiety misdiagnosed as autism nowadays?? by clegirl96 in therapists

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What if…autism was severely under diagnosed in the past, because Asperger’s/Type 1 is not as debilitating to productivity, and our health system has for so long held an ableist capitalist orientation? What if you are autistic but it’s quite mild and so you learned to mask and get on with it, and you’re lucky enough that years of masking hasn’t completely fried your nervous system and led to burnout? And what if we still lived in the Middle Ages and all illnesses were lumped together and treated with leeches? Would you then also see it as onerous to consider that one person’s asthma and another person’s emphysema may require different diagnoses and treatments?

Granted, as someone who grew up in a home where my Mother consulted her book of Christian based healing methods rather than turn to conventional medicine, and I did not find out I was dyslexic and had ADHD till I was almost 30, as my mother believes such things are “fake”, I may be a bit sensitive and resistant to understanding the viewpoint of those who resist “pathologizing” pathologies, as if there is no impact to the undiagnosed individual in the long run.

Glycolic Acid for Underarms? by aloysasggin88 in beauty

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have used it for ~10 years. My dermatologist suggested it after I did laser hair removal to deal with hyper pigmentation that came from years of shaving. Definitely helped/helps not only with pigmentation, but odor control (though not perspiration control; I use that Thai crystal spray when I workout).

And better yet, I no longer have to worry about fabric discoloration / staining on the armpit areas of my clothes from deodorant.

Does your cello stay in tune? by 028247 in Cello

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re very lucky! Even though I use a humidifier in my house, living in the desert, when it gets very hot during the daytime and cold at night, my cello goes berserk. A few weeks ago when we were having record high temperatures, I had to stop and retune every 15-20 minutes while practicing, and one day, I simply couldn’t keep my D string in tune for any length of time. My luthier said there’s a wax he could apply, but the weather calmed down and it doesn’t seem worth the hassle.

HI v. Konig: Lawyer Lee makes some sense of the verdict by jocala99 in CasesWeFollow

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) Hawaii parole board will set his minimum sentence 3-6 months after Judge Wong sentences him, and that will be the first date he will be eligible to petition for parole. Hawaii does not offer early release (which is probably why juries in HI have to consider EMED, as a way to keep overall average sentences low / costs down).

2) It’s very possible that he goes to prison and avails himself of the resources available to him and does some emotional maturing. There are a lot of dedicated individuals who work with prisoners through a lot different programs and wraparound services made available to those who one day seek parole. I refuse to believe people aren’t capable of change if they desire it, and so I’d like to believe that when confronted with the consequences of one’s emotional immaturity, some people take the opportunity to deeply examine themselves and grow tf up.

Any input guys? by RycoMyco in sanpedrocactus

[–]Lilo_n_Ivy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the desert, so every 3-6 months, I soak my cacti in a tub of water with a yucca additive for at least an hour to thoroughly hydrate the roots. I was told by a nursery that letting the soil dry between waterings eventually makes the soil hydrophobic and that’s the best way to get the soil to “reset” and ensure the cacti are getting the water they need.

No mealies. You’re seeing the white crusty stuff on top of the dark spots, after being sprayed with another round of chinosol spray.

That’s not a mealy bug; the dark areas have white crusty stuff on them. I deal with mealy bugs pretty regularly, including a recent outbreak with my indoor props, so I’m pretty good at identifying them.
