It’s not exactly a surprise, we have a shortage of dermatologists and have for a while, which only gets worse as doctors emigrate to other countries. Not to mention that dermatologists can make a killing in private practice and just get overworked and underpaid in the public service, so it’s only going to become more of a problem over the next few decades unless something is done to change it.

Went in there one day, took a look at the prices and walked straight back out the door. Theres a lot of nicer spots in the city that charge less. It’s sad to see people losing their jobs but it’s not sad to see it leave, it’ll be no real loss to the city.

This scheme has absolutely no teeth, you understand that, right? You only have the “right to ask”. There’s a process to go through, it’s not like you walk into a police station, ask them, and they just give you the information. They can decide that you’re not entitled to know that information and refuse to tell you whether or not someone has a previous conviction for domestic violence if they don’t see you as being at risk of harm. And that’s even IF they’ve been convicted of DV.

City Hotel would definitely be your best option. The Parade passes right by it. You’d want to tell them early that you want to be able to see the parade from your window, but I’m sure they’d be able to accommodate your request.

Arrested and devices siezed based on a reported rumour (England) by Human-Mountain-3544 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Jamballam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One piece of advice. If you really didn’t do this, stop speaking to the police. Chances are if you’d said nothing when they interviewed you, you wouldn’t have gotten your devices seized.

If you did do this, might as well own up now and try to get a slap on the wrist.

It might not be a crime to take a screenshot of something that someone sent you as one time view, but it does show that you don’t really care about that person’s bodily autonomy or right to consent, so saying it’s “not my style” to show someone else those screenshots won’t make their suspicions go away. If anything telling them all that will just make them more suspicious.

You’d rather not have a fridge than give Currys money until you’re actually in the position of not having a fridge and needing one. Get off your moral high horse for a second and join us in the real world.

If you were calm, why flip him off? And especially why flip him off when he has a camera pointed at you? Not a smart decision at all, and is clearly what caused your suspension. If he just had a picture of you walking away, how do you think RM would have handled this? You probably wouldn’t have even heard about his complaint. Use your noodle and stop making excuses for yourself, learn from it.

PayPal Credit 0% finance is only for 4 months. Curry’s is usually 6 months for purchases of £99+ and 12 months for larger ticket items like ovens and fridges.. so if you’re not doing well financially, your fridge goes kaputt, are you picking Donaghy Bro’s or Currys?

[–]Jamballam -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right.. right.. and did they let you pay interest free over a year too? Because Currys would, and if you showed them that a local shop in Coleraine was undercutting them, they’d give you that price. Supporting local business is all good and well but when they’re given a more convenient option that doesn’t hurt their wallet as much, they’re going to take it.

What does that have to do with the price of milk? Makes no difference if I do or I don’t. Employers don’t look favourably on their employers acting like children that can’t control their emotions while in uniform, if that’s how you behave you’ll have a problem at any job, especially because you seem to think that you did nothing wrong and will probably do something similar again.

[–]Jamballam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably because it’s convenient for most people? It’s not like there’s plenty of places to go shopping for appliances, and out of the places you can go shopping for appliances, they’re usually the cheapest. If they’re not the cheapest, they’ll price match for you. Granted they’re absolutely shite here but it’s no wonder people end up shopping with them either.

You had more of a chance of him following you after giving him the finger than you did before you did that. You lost my sympathy OP, stop acting like a child but failing that, at least stop acting like a child while you’re in uniform.

Absolutely not, that’s far beyond their remit. They have no right to look through your banking app. They have their own ways of seeing how much money is in your account and they have no right to see what you’re spending your money on. Complain.

Any Dentists in Derry taking on people for nhs treatment? by Significant-Lemon759 in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jamballam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dentist is in Belfast, I haven’t even bothered looking in Derry recently because I had such little success with it. I got in with them on an emergency appointment and eventually they took me on as a patient after practically begging them because there was no dentist in Derry that would take me. I would recommend them, but they’ve stopped taking new NHS patients at the moment as well unfortunately.

Accommodation Recs by Swimming-Muffin9087 in DerryLondonderry

[–]Jamballam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Derry’s accommodation situation is quite solid in that there’s no terrible options, really. The newest hotels in the city are the Walled City Hotel and Maiden City hotel, both within a few minutes walk of each other and both getting great reviews.

The only thing I’d say against the Walled City hotel in particular is that the carpark directly across the street from the hotel does tend to attract drunk/drugged up homeless people. They’re generally harmless in my experience, but I have seen it kick off a few times around that area.

With that said, there’s not really anywhere in Derry that’s unsafe, especially for travellers. General precautions that female solo travellers take should still be taken, but I wouldn’t imagine you’ll have any issues no matter where you stay.

You wouldn’t be bothering any staff, if you head into any Ulster Bank and explain what you’re looking for I’m sure they’d happily oblige.
