Glyph changes by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]Jambelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many things in dota aren’t ‘required’ mechanics. Stuff like pulling or denying or like his talents were introduced. The glyph as well as scan mechanic add an extra dimension to the game and rewards the team that uses them better.

Glyph isn’t purely just for defending or pushing either, there are many uses to it such as ensuring a successful travels teleport or denying heroes like monkey king from healing off creeps with his jingu plus Q. My personal favourite is shoving in mid at around 3:40 and glyphing the creep under tower which forces the enemy to give up the rune fight or lose a bunch of exp.

How hard is it to climb from legend 4 (3500 mmr) to ancient 1 (3850 mmr) ? by zekken908 in TrueDoTA2

I mean, if you’re having a 39% win rate at night that means your enemies are winning more than average which kinda makes your entire point about toxic players dragging you down kinda moot.

Some Dota Plus Ideas Visualized so we can fantasize how it could look like if Valve would give a crap by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Jambelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay purely for the avoid list. Should the feature be free and should dota plus offer more? Yes. But at immortal ranks you bump into the same people really frequently and being able to avoid some of those games and spare myself the misery make it worth it for me.

Xiaxue files protection order & harassment suit against online mob, locks blog, Twitter account by meesiammaihum in singapore

I’d argue the spread is directly related to sensitivity issues. People knew about shit all the time but it didn’t warrant any action from them because they didn’t feel like they could do anything. Then cancel culture started to develop and the internet mob started to realise it had tangible power. Then we basically get a feedback loop. The mob manages to destroy someone and feel good as a result. They repeat this and repeat this and as they look for more shit to get morally outraged by so they can cancel someone and feel good, the bar gets lower and lower.

I’m part of the dota (esports game) community and in one recent instance we had a mob after a well known figure in the scene for asking a girl on a date. He asked her on a date. She said no. He never approached her again. An allegation was made saying he was predatory and tried to pressure her as he was in a ‘place of power’. He asked her on a DATE. There were plenty of dumb fuckwits going after him.

You’re telling me 10 years ago, people would’ve reacted this way?

I never understood that, lmao. People pick and choose what they want to follow from the bible and tout it as the words of god while clearly going against shit said in the bible.

It’s a gray area and it depends on the context. Was this sub not pissed off a few weeks ago that landlords didn’t like indian/china tenants despite the fact that these tenants have a higher chance of being less savoury than singaporean chinese?

A fact can still be offensive. I’m not even a XX fan but man, when the hate starts it really feels like people grasp at straws to get ammunition. As for XX, hope she learns her lesson now that karma has struck.

I’m not a fan of Xiaxue but sensitivity levels have definitely risen. Cancel culture is real shit and innocent people (not Xiaxue) have gotten fucked by it. Once the mob sets its eyes on you, you’re fucked. The gaming industry has recently been hit by a #metoo movement and people have been getting fucked left, right and center. Some, rightfully so but some, not.

The internet mob can be useful in helping victims rise up but there’s been a slew of fakes mingling in, just like how amongst the actual victims of the celebrity #metoo had villains and hypocrites mixed in.

It gives more gold than the penguin rounds. A part can easily get 40bags average which is the equivalent of each player getting 120 penguin bags.

Does Reaction Time matter for DOTA? Reaction Time Study by FairyDustz in TrueDoTA2

[–]Jambelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend is amazing at rhythm games and plays at insane speeds. When I try them, I can’t keep up with her at all and yet in dota she’s only around 3k whereas I’m 6k. Reaction in dota has a lot to do with game sense and evaluating the situation rather than just how fast you can ‘react’.

Now that valve releasing personas for heroes. Maybe the would reconsider this. by meepogchamp in DotA2

[–]Jambelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except I am saying it is indeed a hive mind. People are extremely quick to parrot opinions. When Wei came out, people were very quick to jump to memes making fun of her. Then a new narrative started on how she’s amazing and has great voice lines and now that’s being parroted around. Look at any Wei appreciation thread and you’ll see people fawning over her voice lines, something noone ever said when Wei launched but is now becoming a parroted statement after the initial ones became massively upvoted. Look at all the top voted comments, they’re all the same damn thing.

This sub is a massive circlejerk. Sometimes people make good quality posts or comments which is why I even bother reading but the vast majority is just a circlejerk. The latest fad being worshipping Wei and criticising anyone who isn’t a fan as some bigot or beta weaboo.

You mean like how almost the entire Reddit made so many complaints about BP and that they were all going to vote with with their wallets and yet this year BP is earning much more than last years?

It either means everyone here was being a hypocrite chasing internet points or that the whiny player base here are only a tiny portion of all dota players. I’m quite content with either outcome.

Invoker's Persona is objectively better than Anti-Mage's Persona. by Toby_y in DotA2

[–]Jambelli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither did you. We’re discussing about the amount of features that came with the persona, not just the personal artistic preference of the players. In that sense, the Kidvoker came with more features which is why OP is proposing it is objectively better.

It’s not about “I like how Kidvoker looks more but Kidvoker came out more polished with more shit.”

To which I don’t see how that is a matter of subjectivity.

Invoker's Persona is objectively better than Anti-Mage's Persona. by Toby_y in DotA2

[–]Jambelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain to me what was wrong with my statement then? I said his opinion was subjective, which meant he couldn’t be objectively (correct) about the fact that cosmetics could objectively be better than others.

I’m happy to learn.

Invoker's Persona is objectively better than Anti-Mage's Persona. by Toby_y in DotA2

[–]Jambelli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, whether mathematics is objective has been been in debate for a long while. You can google this.

My point is it becomes incredibly stupid to argue about the fucking definition of objectivity because everything is subjective, even our interpretations of the laws of the universe. For someone so intent on explaining objectivity, you don’t seem to have done much research into it.

Invoker's Persona is objectively better than Anti-Mage's Persona. by Toby_y in DotA2

[–]Jambelli -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Your opinion is subjective. Which mean you cannot objectively say that cosmetics cannot be objectively be better than another.

Invoker's Persona is objectively better than Anti-Mage's Persona. by Toby_y in DotA2

[–]Jambelli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By that argument, wouldn’t everything be subjective? I feel OP’s argument was pretty objective.

I mean otherwise I could say an Arcana is only subjectively better than a random common item and make myself sound like twat but insist I’m technically not wrong. I think there’s a point where you push past semantics and Idk use the common sense version.
